Latest from the U.S. Department of Justice Settlement Agreements and Voluntary Compliance Agreements
There appeared to be interest in our last bulletin regarding settlement agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding accessible design. DCAB will try to include a link to at least one case of interest in each newsletter. New Technical Assistance Guide
The U.S. Access Board has begun to develop informational bulletins and short animations to explain and illustrate the various accessibility requirements in the ADA Standards.
Currently they have completed a Guide to the ADA Standards for:
- Scoping requirements for new construction and alterations
- Floor and ground surfaces
- Clear floor or ground space and turning space
- Operable parts
- Protruding objects
- Accessible routes
- Entrances, doors, and gates
- Ramps and curb ramps
- Elevators and platform lifts
- Accessible means of egress

2016 Disability Access Conference May 3, 2016
DCAB is currently planning it's annual Disability Access Conference. The May 3, 2015 conference will be a return to a 'multi-track' format at the Ala Moana Hotel. Registration will open in January, so save the date! Already lined up is a presentation by GUND Partnership from Cambridge, Massachusetts
