The flea machines are back again!
Bruce Salinger is back exciting our customers with his kinetic sculptures. We have fleas again!!!
Probably the original steam punk, Bruce creates complex devices that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways. Using a torch, Bruce welds sheet steel, rod and surplus metal shapes into imprecise but nevertheless mechanically sound, functioning kinetic sculptures. They make you laugh in one instance but force you to contemplate in the next.
Some of them hang and run on batteries. The clock plugs in to keep accurate time and gives the fleas their energy. Each signed sculpture will give you hours of smiles and entertainment. In stock at our Post Oak location at this time is a clock, a fish on the hunt and a Zepellin. See the kinetic wonders here. You can click on the photo on the website to make it larger to see how inventive these energetic fleas can be.

First customer to reach redemption on the new loyality card program.
We are honored to announce that Darlene Redman has become the first customer to hit redemption on her loyalty card. She and her family have been customers of Hanson Galleries since our Galleria location opened in 1981. It is not surprising that she became our first customer to fill up and redeem her loyalty card.
She told me that she bought anniversary, graduation , and father's day gifts. She converted her jewelry club card to another box and was one of the first to receive the sign-up bonus that we offered all customers in the beginning. That left her with one box to fill, so she bought a piece of jewelry that was winking at her. These six purchases happened in less than a month since we started the popular new program. She now has moved onto the next color of loyalty card.
Darlene has always respected the "Made in the USA" concept and Hanson Galleries thanks her and her family for their decades of loyalty. Her daughter told me recently that she grew up visiting the Galleria location with her parents.
We have many more customers with five boxes, so please think of us for that next gift or card and get to your own reward. Remember, the credit you get can be used on anything in the store. To see more information on the new Rewards Card program, visit our website.

Moldavite: a gem that fell to earth

Moldavite is found in only one area of the world. A meteorite of enormous size and incredible impact is known to have crashed in the Czechoslovakian mountain region around 15 million years ago.
The event is believed to have created melted material that fell to earth creating these beautiful green crystals. This amazing stone was formed by the heat of an extraordinary force with more power than an atomic explosion.
Moldavite is scientifically classed with tektites and comes with a bumpy surface and a vitreous luster.
Our moldavite pendants and earrings are set in sterling silver. See our current selection here. To read more about it and its healing and transformative powers read: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transormation by Robert Simmons and Kathy Warner available on most book sites.

Marketing for a cause! From "empoweredWOMEN" of Dallas
Women in need from the Dallas area use vintage, repurposed or sustainable materials to hand make their creations like these bibs and booties. They are part of the GAIA family.
The founder, Paula Minnis, was inspired to create a sustainable, socially responsible business model in which women could gain transferable skills to make one-of-a-kind pieces for a living wage.
Their mission is to empower marginalized women through employment, encouragement, and dedication to their long-term success in the Dallas community.
Hanson Galleries wishes to help them succeed by offering these cute bibs and booties to our Houston customers.
The name GAIA, meaning "Goddess of the Earth," was chosen as a way to honor all women... from the ones who make GAIA products to the ones who purchase or receive them.
The director, Lauren Murray, believes we should help others and serve our neighbors.
These reversible bibs for boys and girls can be bought at both locations. |
Dad would love this! "Curiosity" is the newest paper weight in the celestial series of handblown glass by Robert Adamson.
NASA launched its Curiosity rover in November 2011 on a mission to Mars. About eight months later, on August 6, 2012, the rover safely landed within 1.5 miles of its target and set about its planned exploration of the Red Planet to assess its ability to sustain life.
Limited to 1000 pieces, this 3" weight includes an engraved multi-color light base.
