The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) will be in Houston for their national conference.  Earth/Energy is the conference theme.  Over 100 exhibitions will be presented in the Houston/Galveston area.  Bus tours of many of these venues, including Hanson Galleries, will be through Lew White Tours between March 18 and 22.  Show can be seen at Hanson Galleries Post Oak through March 30th.

Hanson Galleries has been honored with the showing of a body of work by Virginia Jenkins of Memphis, TN with her Entropic Quandrys presentation.   She explains it as: "Sculpture that represents the potential of our ocean's undiscovered life and the affects of entropy on our behavioral and environmental design systems."

"Made in America" relevant again!
From Advertising Age Magazine article

A recent article in this ad and marketing trade journal is titled "It's Cool Again to be
Made in America."

Quoting them, "Not since the 1970s has
Made in America been such a hot way to market your product."  Hanson Galleries was founded in 1977.

A Boston Consulting Group recently concluded that more than 80% of Americans surveyed preferred U.S.-made goods, and that they would pay more for said goods."  The article says "Yet actions and sentiment are two different things:  It often comes down to quality vs. a deal."

Made in America is nothing new for some brands.  In fact, 95% of Hanson Galleries offerings are Made in the USA and that has been true throughout their 36 year history.  "It has not been an easy road to travel", quotes owner, Art Milstein.  "The craft industry has been shrinking for over a decade with the growing of big box stores, the internet, and aging of its core followers as well as many other factors."

"It has been particularly rough recently for Hanson Galleries with our change of locations in the Post Oak Area.  However, we do wish to thank the loyal customers who followed us here," states Milstein.

Keep us here!

Dear friends,

Our four spring buying trips are over and the new work is arriving daily.  Stop in either store and see what's fresh and exciting.

Art And Donna Arhaus Arhaus, our newest neighbor at Post Oak, is now open.  Swing by and check out both of us.  They are in the old Barnes & Noble location two doors away and they have wonderful furniture.  At right are the owners of Hanson Galleries welcoming the new store to the neighborhood at their their Grand Opening last week.

It is quite an honor that we were selected for a venue for the National Ceramic Convention that is meeting in Houston in March.  In fact, it's quite an honor for Houston!  Support the event by coming and seeing the interesting pieces we will have showing.
