Open Knit times to become NEW Shawl KAL!

Though it saddens us to say goodbye to our weekly Sit and Knits, there are new things on the horizon. And one of those new things is just in sight...!

cinder shawl

Yes, it's true. We just can't hold it back any longer. We are incredibly excited to announce The Flaming Ice Cube's premiere Shoppe Knit-A-Long!  We've combined the fun of our open knit times with the instructional benefits of our classes to create a new knit-along experience.

Drum roll, please, as we say hello to our first project:
It's Cinder! This gorgeous sock-yarn shawl is the perfect size to please both the beginner shawl knitter and the seasoned veteran looking for a little side project. Worked top-down and featuring a simple two-part lace, Cinder is destined to become your wardrobe's favorite statement piece!

For those of you looking to get your toes wet, we'll be featuring a Shawl Class to kick off our KAL.  Learn everything you'll need to know about this  shawl's construction and have any questions answered.   Although the class is not required to participate in KAL, it will be very helpful for those who have not knit shawls before.  And to make it even more enticing, everyone who attends the class will get $10 off the price of the book. Choose the Tuesday session on May 5th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm OR the Thursday evening session on May 7th from 6 - 8 pm.

Then, sit and socialize with friends or make some new while working your shawl down to the last stitch.  A knowledgeable shoppe employee will be on hand to help with any hiccups, and snacks and tea will be available to keep your thirst and appetite sated!

In-store KALs not your thing? That's alright - we've got you covered, too! We will be featuring each Cube KAL on our Ravelry page so that anyone can participate. Follow along with other knitters on the forum, post photos of your progress, and let the world know you're knitting up something beautiful.

If you'd like to join the KAL, just pick up a copy of Sock Yarn Shawls II and a skein of sock yarn from our Boardman location!  Online counts, too, so non-local knitters, don't fret.

But wait, there's more!

For participating in the knit-along, you will receive a participation treat. We know what it is - you do not! That means it's a surprise. For online knitters, post at least one in-progress photo and list your shawl as an in-progress project on your Ravelry page in order to get your reward! You must be willing to share your shipping address with us if you'd like to receive your gift.*

Complete your shawl by July 4 and not only will you have a stylish accessory to wear to the fireworks, you will also receive an award, because yay! Good for you! Once again, we know what it is, and you do not, meaning that your award is a surprise. Very mysterious! Very exciting! Online knitters:  for your project to be considered complete, you'll need to post a photo on the forum and list it as a complete project on your Ravelry page. And again, you must be willing to share your shipping address with us if you'd like to receive your gift.*

That's all for now! Questions? Comments? Let us know! We're always happy to receive your calls. And keep an eye out for more information, because it will be coming soon!
