Basic Sock Series begins Thursday at 1pm

In this 3-session class we will learn to knit a basic sock from the top down.  The class project is a toddler size sock knit with worsted weight yarn.  You will also receive patterns for adult socks in both worsted and sock weight yarns.

Week 1) Discuss the anatomy of a sock and different construction methods Cast on, cuff, leg
Week 2) Heel
Week 3) Foot and toe and Kitchener stitch

Prerequisites: You should have basic knitting skills. You should know how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and cast off. You should also know the difference between right and wrong (as it pertains to the sides of your knitted fabric, that is). It is very helpful, but not required, to be familiar with circular knitting on double pointed needles.

Materials: Please bring the following items with you to the first class
- Classic Elite Liberty Wool, 1 skein
- a set of US4 dpns
- or or come a bit early and the staff at The Flaming Ice Cube can help you with your selection

My First Sweater this Wednesday at 6pm
Linda Shevel (Wedding Dress Linda) will be the instructor for this sweater class designed for first time sweater knitters.   This class is designed for anyone who knows how to knit and purl.  The rest is what we go over in class!

This Wednesday at 6pm is the planning session.  At this session we will go over yarn selection, gauge, size, etc. and answer any general questions.  If you think you might be interested in taking the class, come to the planning session (just call us at 330-726-4766 to let us know that you are coming).  There are then three 2-hour class sessions from 6 - 8pm on Wednesdays, February 18, February 25, and March 18 where we will learn new techniques, encourage, motivate, inspire and, of course, make a new sweater!

Class fee is $50 (plus materials).  Students receive a class discount of 10% off all materials for the class.
