Knitting News from The Flaming Ice Cube

If you've been waiting for a Saturday Building Blocks series, wait no more! Tomorrow we begin a new Building Blocks series  (more info below). 

Knitting calendar highlights: 
  • In November we will be holding two Christmas Balls classes in preparation for our Christmas Balls party on Friday, December 12!  Choose Thursday, November 6th at 6pm or Thursday, November 13th at 1pm.  Deadline to register for evening class is October 28 - Call The Flaming Ice Cube at 330-726-4766 to register.
  • We are now taking reservations for our annual knitters' retreat to be held the weekend of March 7th, 2015.  Michelle Hunter will once again be our guest teacher!  You can download the registration form on our new website.
  • Our next knitting boot camp starts Wednesday, October 29th at 2pm.
Building Blocks begins Tomorrow!

Building Blocks was created to move the new knitter beyond the basics by introducing the major knitting techniques in a systematic approach. Each block builds upon the skills of the previous block, allowing the knitter to gain confidence and knowledge while working toward a beautiful sampler afghan (or two baby blankets).

The 12 blocks in this project naturally lend themselves to a "Block of the Month" series. Having to complete one 12" square per month seems to suit most knitters. The time-challenged knitter is able to find enough time in the month for this amount of knitting. The prolific knitter can easily finish this block in the month and return to other projects while waiting for the next class.

Christmas Balls Class and Party

In this special holiday class we will learn to knit fun and festive Christmas Balls!  Choose from 2 dates: Thursday, November 6 from 6 - 8pm OR Thursday, November 13 from 1 to 3pm.   

 

Please note:  deadline to register for evening class is October 28 

 

Class fee includes hardcover book "55 Christmas Balls to Knit", yarn and instruction.  We will review the book, select a ball to knit, and get started knitting our balls.  Then be sure to attend our Christmas Balls Party on December 12 where we will get together to admire our balls and stuff them!   

 

Prerequisites/Skill Level: Attendees must be comfortable knitting in the round on DPN's. Experience knitting with 2 colors (stranded/Fair Isle) is very helpful, but not required.

Materials: Yarn and book are included in the price of the class, just bring your US2 or US2.5 DPN's (note: bamboo needles are much easier to use on these than metal) and be prepared to have a ball!
