Enjoy the Kenosha Area!

FEBRUARY 2014

Are you twiddling your thumbs, waiting for spring to arrive? First, those thumbs deserve a manicure at Utopia Nails & Spa (and guys, you're welcome there as well!). Next, we have many suggestions of what you can do in the Kenosha Area before Old Man Winter makes his retreat. We have both outdoor/icy/snowy activities, as well as warm/"I'm staying indoors" activities.

New Winter Festival!
NEW WINTER FESTIVAL!

On Feb. 8, a cool new event takes place: Snow Daze Festival. Library Park will become a showcase for ice sculptures by Art Below Zero. There will be ice sculpting demonstrations to watch, family games to play, a graffiti ice wall to create a design on, and more. While in Downtown Kenosha for this event and Second Saturday, check out the Downtown Ice Tour! Sponsored by Downtown businesses, over two dozen amazing ice sculptures will debut during Snow Daze and remain on display as long as the weather allows! Learn more about all the festivities here.

Fun at Wilmot Mountain
SNOW MANY MORE IDEAS!

Enjoy snow tubing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, watching turtle races, and listening to live music at Wilmot Mountain. Enjoy cross-country skiing at Petrifying Springs Park or Richard Bong State Recreation Area (which offers a cross-country ski clinic on Feb. 8 and 15). Then, of course, there's #93 from our list of 101 Things to See & Do for Under $10 in the Kenosha Area (many are FREE): Snowshoe through the pristine Bristol Woods Park. Admission is free, with $5 to rent a pair of snowshoes from the on-site Pringle Nature Center. On Feb. 14 there's a Candlelight Snowshoe Valentine's Hike at Pringle.

Now at the Kenosha Public Museum
COME ON IN & WARM UP!
Visit "Coffee - The World in Your Cup" - a new exhibit at the Kenosha Public Museum. Learn the story of one of the world's most widely traded commodities. Then warm up with your own cup of java at one of many local coffee shops. Is coffee not your cup of tea? Perhaps you prefer, well, tea! Served with a helping of literature on the side, NovelTea Bookstore offers a large selection of pre-owned books, along with organic teas and herbals. Here at the Visitors Bureau, we also like to warm up with a cup of soup from Jack's Cafe at Andrea's, Linnea Bakery, or Uncanny Soup Co. (just to name a few places)! Don't miss the tasty Great Kenosha Pizza Bake-Off on Feb. 23.
Kenosha YMCA
TIME OUT FOR KIDS!

Are the kids getting restless and starting to climb the walls? They can literally climb the wall at Kenosha YMCA! Rock climbing and swimming at Kenosha YMCA, indoor ice skating and splashing around in the indoor waterpark at RecPlex, painting at Alpaca Art Pottery Painting, digging for dinos at the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, exploring The Field Station at the Kenosha Public Museum, and taking the free indoor train tour at Jelly Belly Visitor Center are all great ideas for families diagnosed with cabin fever! And remember, it's only 117 days until the Kenosha Kingfish Baseball team's home opener!
