![]() On April 11, the ICA hosted a tour for high school students in the Artworks Apprentices program offered by Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio. A group of 31 students and their advisors learned about the unique combination of art and science involved in ICA's conservation work. During their visit they met with education staff and conservators, asking many questions about the life cycle of artwork, and the role of conservation in preserving everything from priceless Renaissance paintings to swords from the War of 1812.
Young Audiences helps students learn, create, and sustain future jobs in the art field. The ICA supports art programs, community organizations, and schools in developing arts-infused curriculum for all students. Art curriculum enhances a student's perceptive, social, and personal development. Through our art@work education program, ICA presents Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) concepts to students ranging from middle schoolers to post-grads. We hope to sustain the future of art and heritage collections by encouraging young people to participate in their preservation for generations to come.
For more information about the student experiences offered through ICA's art@work program, or to schedule a tour of the conservation lab facility, please contact Jennifer Souers Chevraux at (216) 658-8700.
