Should I Buy That? A Conservator's Perspective on Purchasing Works on Paper
Jamye Jamison, ICA Associate Paper Conservator
Friday, November 30, 5:30-7:00PM
Works on paper are often matted and framed, obscuring the edges and making the object itself somewhat inaccessible. This means it is even more important for the buyer to thoroughly investigate an object they are considering for purchase. What are your rights as a buyer when trying to gather more information? What are your options for assessing an object when you are purchasing from a remote seller? How might the information you gather affect your decision to purchase a print or drawing?
Jamye Jamison, Paper Conservator at ICA-Art Conservation, will offer an informal discussion about how to ask the right questions to ensure you are getting what you expect. A Q&A session will round out the evening with Deba Gray of Gray's Auctioneers available to offer an appraiser's perspective.
