Maren Farnum works to help local government cope with climate change, and researches how local government uses climate and economic data.
The Center for the Blue Economy (CBE) welcomes recent graduate Maren Farnum full-time this summer as a Research Associate and Data Analyst. Maren is representing the CBE at a newly formed group (name to be determined) led by the Nature Conservancy that aims to be a "one-stop-shop" for local governments and planners providing tools and guidance on climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. She will also be researching how Santa Cruz and Monterey county governments have used economic and climate data in their decision making process.
Dr. Lili Dingaims to put the environment and a sustainable marine economy on the books in China's coastal development auction system.
The Center for the Blue Economy (CBE) welcomes Dr. Lili Ding of Shandong University of Science and Technology as a Visiting Scholar for 2015-2016. While at the CBE, she will conduct research on incorporating the marine economy and environmental protection into the coastal permit and development process in China.

Melis Okter is a Center for the Blue Economy (CBE) 2015 Summer Fellow working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Arctic environmental stewardship and resource conservation. She attended Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW), and was inspired by the unique work the CBE and its National Ocean Economics Program are doing and how this work was highlighted during the event.
