Delay in Processing for the Part A to Part B Rebilling Claims
There is a delay in processing for the Part A to Part B rebilling claims due to a Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) issue.
Claims may suspend incorrectly with reason codes 31182, 31796 and/or 31797. We are holding these claims until a correction is made FISS, which we anticipate to be made in early August. After the correction has been verified, we will release the claims that have suspended incorrectly with these three reason codes.
There are claims that are receiving these reason codes correctly. These claims are being returned to providers (RTP). The claims that have been RTP'd for reason codes 31182, 31796 and/or 31797 should be corrected and resubmitted.
Providers may continue to submit Part A to Part B Rebilling claims and to correct such claims that are RTP'd. Guidelines for coding claims submitted on/after July 1, 2013 can be found in MLN Matters article MM8185: http://www.cms.gov/outreach-and-education/medicare-learning-network-mln/mlnmattersarticles/downloads/MM8185.pdf
We will advise providers when the claims have been released. If there are any additional issues, another update will be sent out.
