Attention Electronic Claims Submitters and Receivers:
Announcing the NHIC, Corp. J14 MAC Initiative to
Discontinue Modem Connections
By August 15, 2013
Please read this important message which will impact your ability to submit and receive your electronic transactions if you are not using one of the NHIC, Corp. approved Network Service Vendors (NSV) to connect to the NHIC Carrier Access Bulletin Board (CABBS). If you are currently accessing the NHIC CABBS gateway via one of the NHIC approved NSV--ABILITY, Claim Shuttle, Cortex EDI Inc, ECC Technologies, IVANS or MedXpress, please ignore this message.
In order to best meet the security needs for Medicare Claim information transmissions, NHIC, Corp. will no longer be accepting file uploads or downloads via modem connections.
It is NHIC, Corp.'s expectations that effective August 15, 2013, all direct dial-up options will be transitioned to a NSV for all access to the NHIC CABBS gateway.
In addition, effective immediately, any new request to become a Medicare Submitter will only be allowed through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) preferred method of Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) via an NSV.
The Network Service Vendors below provide a variety of connectivity options including internet, Secure FTP, and dial-up service should a Trading Partner wish to continue with the dial-up option.
