 TRUSTING OPPORTUNITIES
Recognizing Unexpected Gifts on Our Path

During the month of JANUARY Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy encourage us to step into the new year, 2015, with a sense of relaxation about the ordinary and obvious truth of change.

They will help us cultivate the capacity to keep an open heart, to remain curious, no matter how things show up.

The entire journey of our human walk in the world is to get to know ourselves better and so that we can remember and express the qualities of our Divine selves.

Key to this spiritual practice is the willingness to say yes to what happens to and around us; to see the value of the opportunities and circumstances that come our way.

We will be invited to trust the power of the Universe to support our journeys as we remain aware of both the challenges and abundance that arise in our day-to-day experiences.

Together we will open to the idea that everything that happens is moving us in the direction of our highest good. Important to this spiritual practice is having the courage to embrace what comes next as we recognize unexpected gifts.

This is a perfect talk series to take us into a new year, new plans, new opportunities, new challenges, new choices, and new ways of being in and seeing the world around us.

Common Ground is the perfect place for anyone who is spiritually independent and open to spirituality without borders. We are an open accepting spiritual community where everyone is welcome.

Please join us each Sunday at our new time, 12:00 Noon, at our new Chapel Sanctuary beginning January 11th (Closing service at Golden Circle at 10:30 am January 4th)

  •  THE FACTS OF LIFE
     Change

Nothing stays the same. A new year is unfolding as circumstances continue to change and reveal themselves in new ways.

At Common Ground, a BIG change is taking place effective January 11, 2015.

As a result of a number of unfolding events, The Revs are pleased to announce that Common Ground has added a new location for Sunday inspirational services.

A stand-alone Chapel on the campus of Church of the Foothills, a Progressive Christian church located at 19211 Dodge Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705, has been updated and beautified in preparation for the move.

For the past ten years, having a 'church' building has been a consistent vision for Common Ground. Through grace and synchronicity, that vision has now manifested unexpectedly.

Common Ground's current location on North Golden Circle Drive will continue to house administrative offices, and will be a place for gatherings, classes, events, and fellowship. The only change will be on Sundays when services will take place in the sacred setting of the new Chapel.

To accommodate Church of the Foothills and in consideration of parking needs, Common Ground will meet for Sunday services at a slightly later time, 12 noon.

This will come as good news for those who enjoy sleeping in on the weekends. It also provides ample time for getting together for breakfast before service. Hospitality will be offered after service each week so that people can visit with one another and strengthen community ties.

This is an exciting step forward for Common Ground. Everyone is invited to be present for the opening service. Come help set the sacred energy for the new Chapel.

     PLANS IN PROCESS
Setting Intentions for the Coming Year

memory The new year offers an opportunity to take a look at what's working in life and what might need to be shifted. This is the case for an individual's life journey as well as for spiritual community.

Every January The Revs review the previous year and open to guidance for what comes next. As spiritual community, this is a year for big change and awesome possibilities.

New things are on the horizon and successful things will continue in even greater ways.

A variety of daily classes, workshops and events will continue to spark interest, support spiritual transformation, and enhance personal growth. New opportunities will be added throughout the year.

New ways of coming together in spiritual community to strengthen the bonds of friendship and connection will take place on a frequent basis.

The GreenLady Boutique will continue to provide a meaningful way to reduce, reuse and recycle clothing and items that might otherwise end up in landfill.

In addition, Common Ground's commitment to help create a sustainable planet will continue through recycling, conscious use of resources, and attention to 'green' practices.

A community-wide Visioning session based on the model developed by Michael Beckwith will take place immediately after Sunday service on January 25th.

Everyone is invited to join in opening to guidance both personally and as community.

The Revs will lead the process. The key question is this: "How does God see itself in my life in the coming year?"

     ACCOMPLISHING GOALS
     Growing Leadership

Common Ground is very pleased to announce that Stacie Buda has successfully completed all requirements for licensing through Common Ground's rigorous and demanding Ministerial Licensing Program.

She now joins Reverend Glenda, Reverend Judy and Reverend Danell in moving forward the vision and mission of Common Ground.

Stacie was not just successful in her studies and internship, she was exceptional. She has already been wearing the mantle of leadership for the past several years and has been a tremendous asset to The Revs and to the overall growth and development of Common Ground.

She excelled in every area of her studies and went beyond expectations in taking responsibility for teaching, managing, creating programs, and being available for anything that needed to be done.

The Revs are proud to include Stacie as a Common Ground minister and look forward to what comes next. Stacie is free to choose her path in ministry.

Stacie's licensing ceremony will take place in the first quarter of 2015. She is currently scheduling the event at a time when she hopes her family is available to travel to Southern California to honor her.

Please join the entire spiritual community at Common Ground in acknowledging Stacie's awesome accomplishment.

     PRAYER & MEDITATION
     A Time for Everything

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven ~
A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace

    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
