 THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
 The Divine Spark

During the month of DECEMBER Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy help us celebrate the beauty and luminosity of the holiday season by reminding us that the light of the world lives within each of us.

They will help us remember that we are the light of the world that carries the consciousness of life's highest purpose within the divine spark at the center of our being.

They will remind us that the inner light of spirit is our eternal aliveness, which is constantly looking for a way to express itself, always changing and always creating new forms.

They will also remind us that we are very powerful. In the simplicity of our human values ~ love, and joy, and hope ~ the light within the heart is awakened and we begin to experience a whole different world.

They will invite us to embrace the idea that we see the world around us through the light of our awareness. When we have more light to see by, we experience the colors, and beauty, and richness of the experiences life offers us.

The more we lean into life, the more we authentically interact with the world, the brighter our light. We then have the capacity within ourselves to bring forth the qualities of peace, love, hope, and joy.

Please join us every Sunday during the holiday season to celebrate our divinity and embrace our awesome walk in the world as precious human beings.

Common Ground is the perfect place for anyone who is spiritually independent and open to spirituality without borders. We are an open accepting spiritual community where everyone is welcome.

Please join us each Sunday at 10:30 am.

  •  TRUSTING OPPORTUNITIES
     A Leap of Faith

Circumstances are continually changing and revealing themselves in new ways at Common Ground.

A BIG change is in process.

As a result of a number of unfolding and unexpected events, The Revs are pleased to announce that Common Ground is adding a new location for Sunday inspirational services.

Beginning in January 2015, services will be held in a stand-alone chapel on the grounds of Church of the Foothills, a Progressive Christian church located at 19211 Dodge Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705.

For the past ten years, having a 'church' building has been a consistent vision for Common Ground. Now that vision has manifested.

Common Ground's current location at Golden Circle will continue to house administrative offices and offer a beautiful place for gatherings, classes, and fellowship. The only change will be on Sundays when services will take place in the sacred setting of the new chapel.

Timing for this change is impeccable. The previous occupant, Mysterium Theater, relocated just in time for Common Ground to refurbish and improve the interior of the chapel for it's first Sunday service on January 11, 2015.

New flooring, new paint, new design, and new energy will transform the chapel into a sacred place of refinement . All of the beautiful things that are currently in the Golden Circle sanctuary will be moved to the new chapel to help create a familiar, welcoming and comfortable ambiance.

The new chapel will provide a place for hospitality and also an opportunity to create an exterior meditation garden area.

To meet this huge challenge, many pieces have fallen into place without effort. Within days of discovering the need to move Sunday services:
  • Spirit guided The Revs to the recently vacated chapel
  • Zinnia Menardi-Wolf, a friend of Common Ground, arranged an evening meeting for The Revs with the pastor of the Church of the Foothills
  • Pastor Michael Holland arranged an on-the-spot meeting with key decision makers who were at choir practice
  • A Big Plan outlining Common Ground's optimal outcome was designed, submitted, and approved by the church leaders
  • A 3-year lease was executed effective December 1, 2014

This has been a whirlwind experience that will take Common Ground to its next incarnation as spiritual community. The Revs are deeply grateful for the loving support of spiritual community, its key leaders, and friends.

A special thank you goes out to Zinnia, Pastor Mike, and the decision makers at Church of the Foothills. Without the openness and cooperation of everyone involved the outcome would not have been as easy or as loving.

Stay tuned for more information and updates.

     CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE
     Celebrating Light and Love

Christmas Eve at Common Ground is always a heartfelt evening of music, memories and sweet messages.

The service is scheduled at 5:00 pm to give everyone an opportunity to celebrate together as spiritual community before carrying on with evening activities with friends and families.

The evening is focused on bringing in and carrying forth the light of divinity. Careful attention is paid to creating an inclusive, family friendly experience that is appropriate for all faith traditions and that allows everyone to feel welcome and honored. This year the Menorah will be lit in celebration of the eighth day of Hanukkah.

Everyone in attendance will receive a blessing and symbol of the season. This is one of the most thoughtful and beautiful celebrations of the year. Plan to come.

     TITHING 2014
May All That We Give and All The We Receive Be Blessed and Multiplied. As We Give, So Shall We Receive ~ Common Ground is truly blessed and in turn becomes a blessing in the world

Common Ground reaches out to the global community through our spiritual practice of conscious giving.

Giving back to the world is an important aspect of our mission and vision. A balanced integral approach is reflected in conscious selection of 501c3 qualified programs and institutions to which Common Ground provides tithes each month.

Recipients of Common Ground 2014 tithes include: IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences), advancing the science of consciousness and human experience to serve individual and collective transformation; Kiva, empowering people to lift themselves out of poverty; Project HOPE School, (Homeless Outreach Program in Education), helping children without permanent homes transition into the mainstream educational system; Walking Shield, helping to improve the quality of life for American Indian families; , The Humane Society of Dover-Stewart County, a not-for-profit organization rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals and placing them into good homes, Mercy House Fare Share Program, providing bus passes for homeless men, women and children in search of a better life, The Avielle Foundation, a non-profit foundation created by the parents of a child victim of the Sandy Hook killings, aiming to support and protect vulnerable loved ones and to strengthen communities through brain health initiatives and community engagement; Breast Cancer Angels, a not-for-profit organization providing financial, emotional and spiritual assistance for women and their families as they are going through breast cancer treatment; and Willows in the Wind, a not-for-profit organization supporting families with teens and young adults in crisis.

The organizations to which Common Ground tithes are meaningful programs where people from the spiritual community and its friends are already serving with heart and hand, and supporting with time and treasure.

NEW YEAR'S EVE RELEASE AND RENEWAL CELEBRATION
     Letting Go and Setting Intentions

The New Year's Eve Release and Renewal Celebration at Common Ground is one of the highlights of the year. It takes place from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, which allows for New Year's Eve activities later on in the evening.

The celebration is an opportunity to pay attention to those things that have gotten in the way by acknowledging them and allowing them to be transformed by the power of the burning bowl ceremony.

It is also a time to listen to the voice of Spirit by asking the question: "How does God see itself in my life in the coming year?"

After a time of meditation everyone is invited to write a letter to 'God' and set intentions for 2015. Letters from the previous year are returned in early December. Anyone who wrote a letter last year should be receiving it soon. (If you have had an address change please let Common Ground know)

Plan to end 2014 on a high note and get ready for the unfolding events of the coming year.. Everyone is welcome and included.
