 DISCOVERING YOUR SOUL SIGNATURE
A Path to Purpose, Passion and Joy

During the month of NOVEMBER Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy invite us to join them in cultivating the capacity to find the most authentic and unique expression of who we are at our very core.

They will help us identify what Panache Desai calls, our soul signature, which reflects each of our singular contribution to the world. Desai says: "Your soul signature resides at the deepest core of who you are and permeates every aspect of your life."

They will invite us to take a journey of discovery that helps us embrace who we are, as we are; to allow life to unfold for us on every single level, to reach a point when we finally understand that we are good enough for ourselves ~ a blessing, a miracle.

This is a perfect talk series for anyone who is ready to live a life of authenticity, to discover purpose and passion, and to believe in the possibility of all things.

Common Ground is the perfect place for anyone who is spiritually independent and open to spirituality without borders. We are an open accepting spiritual community where everyone is welcome.

Please join us each Sunday at 10:30 am.

  •  SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY AS A PRACTICE
     Dedication and Reception

tree of life Common Ground is pleased to present an opportunity for those who are ready to enter into a committed relationship with spiritual community to consider taking part in the upcoming Covenant Fellowship Dedication Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, at 12 noon immediately following service.

Covenant Fellowship is a deep relationship between Common Ground and a person who expresses a desire to further the vision and mission of Common Ground.

It is similar to membership but is actually a much deeper commitment.

Unlike becoming a member of an organization simply by making application, paying fees and/or stating intention; such as with political parties, churches, social organizations, etc.; Covenant Fellowship with Common Ground carries with it a deep commitment to make community a spiritual practice by regularly contributing time, talent, and gifts toward the purpose of the spiritual center.

There are no required beliefs, however, those entering into Covenant Fellowship must be willing to embrace religious humility and acknowledge ecumenism that lets all spiritual traditions speak for themselves.

Tithing is not a requirement. A Covenant Fellowship partner is assumed to have a giving consciousness. A person's giving consciousness is not monitored.

Anyone desiring to enter into Covenant Fellowship may complete an online Request Form or complete an application available at Common Ground and submit it by the deadline for this year's Dedication Ceremony, November 12.

Everyone is welcome and invited to participate in activities at Common Ground.

The decision to enter into Covenant Fellowship is a very deep commitment. While everyone is invited to consider Covenant Fellowship, everyone is equally encouraged to prayerfully consider whether or not such a commitment serves their highest personal interest. Only those who are ready to do so are encouraged to make the choice to enter into this covenant.

     PREMIER HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE
Blanca Nieves' Navidad ~ Snow White's Christmas

In the Spirit Productions and Common Ground are proud to present a premier Staged Play Reading of "Blanca Nieves' Navidad: A Magical Bilingual/Bicultural Christmas Play".

This original play, taking place within the nostalgic setting of the 1950's, is written by playwright, Yolanda Mendiviles.

Drawing from her own experiences of Latina culture, Yolanda has woven together a thoughtful depiction of real-life issues and concerns of modern-day Hispanic families using the Christmas season as a backdrop for the story.

Regardless of ethnicity, the themes portrayed in this play relate to everyone. Especially in today's economic climate, the complexity and struggle of a mother's efforts to keep a roof over her children's heads, keep her family together, and make ends meet are universal human concerns.

This Christmas story is about love, about strength in the face of adversity, and about the gift of ancestral values and traditions.

This is an up-close and personal experience. The performance will take place at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary at Common Ground on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Tickets will be available at the door, however, advance purchase is highly recommended. Seating is open and limited.

Ticket price is $10 per person. Call 949-878-7367 to place your order. Children 5 years and younger will be admitted for free.

Honoring the Mexican Christmas tradition of Las Posadas, Common Ground will host a pre-show reception featuring holiday cookies and hot chocolate. Doors open at 6:00 pm.

This is a unique opportunity to support Yolanda's work and to enjoy a fun holiday event. Everyone is invited and welcome. Purchase tickets early.

Calling Artisans, Crafters, Confectioners, and Vendors of Gift Items

On December 7th, immediately following Sunday inspirational services, the doors will open wide.

Now is the time to make plans to start the season off right by experiencing the holiday beauty and ambiance of Common Ground.

Artisans, crafters, vendors of gift items, and confectioners are encouraged to take the opportunity to have a booth at the event. Applications are being accepted now ~ first come, first served, space is limited.

     ANOTHER EXPERIMENT
     Video Concert Series

In keeping with The Revs willingness to try new things, beginning in November they will be experimenting with a cutting edge concept that is gaining popularity especially with the advent of technology and an emphasis on the power of music to connect people.

Beginning at 12 noon on November 23, immediately following the Thanksgiving Potluck Lunch, a one-hour Video Concert will be presented in the Sanctuary.

Selection of music videos will reflect an array of genres and will appeal to a diversity of listeners. Images on the screen as well as the power of rhythm, lyrics, and content of the music will be designed to inspire and stimulate social connection, discussion and interest.

An emphasis will be placed on multicultural and multigenerational music.

Video concerts will feature music by Katy Perry, John Butler Trio, Sting, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Mumford & Sons, Gotye, Fun, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, Alicia Keys, Queen, Adele, BBC Music Series, Playing for Change, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Coldplay, John Denver, Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, and many others.

Anyone who is ready for something different and who is willing to spend an hour in the vibration of thoughtful music is invited to give this new idea a try. Hopefully it's an experiment that will take off and be the start of something exciting in the future.

The Revs hold the vision that what comes next will reveal itself: an added regular Sunday gathering, a discussion group, a place of bonding and belonging? Who knows?

Come help create the experience. Your input and suggestions are welcome!

     LOST YEARS OF JESUS
Sifting Through Legends, Myths and Historical Evidence

For those who are interested in exploration of the 'lost years of Jesus', immediately following the Open House on December 7th, Edward T. Martin, author of King of Travelers: Jesus' Lost Years in India, will present a thought provoking talk on the subject.

Although modern scholarship holds that there is little historical information to prove what happened during those years, maverick researcher and explorer Edward T. Martin has journeyed to remote exotic locations in India, Nepal, Afghanistan and elsewhere, trying to unravel the mysteries of Jesus' Lost Years.

Martin's book inspired the 2008 Paul Davids film distributed by NBC Universal International Television, "Jesus in India," as seen on the Sundance Channel.

Mr. Martin will facilitate screening of the film at Common Ground on Sunday, December 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Tickets are available for the lecture and film: $10 per person for each event.
