AMAZING BE ATTITUDES
Transformation and Renewal
During the month of APRIL Reverend
Glenda and Reverend Judy invite us to focus attention on cultivating an understanding of how our thinking determines the attitudes we bring to life.
They will help us see that our own static thoughts have a tendency to hold old ideas and beliefs in a state of 'mental intertia' that resists change; even when change would improve and enhance our lives.
The Easter season, celebrated throughout the Christian world, is a perfect time to remember the Truth of our own Divinity as we embrace the greatest gift of our humanity ~ the power of thought. Through our thoughts we can incorporate into our consciousness the mind of God/Source/Light/Love/Divinity/Allah/Christ/Buddha/or Whatever you call your Higher Power.
Eric Butterworth, the great metaphysician, says everyone of us has within us "the molding power of our own thoughts".
No matter what challenges we may be facing, with the right attitude we can go, grow and blossom through them.
This season of transformation and growth suggests the importance of cultivating the thoughts and attitudes that recognize the many blessings in our lives and remind us of the possibility of a renewed perspective so that we can actually live the highest idea of our own Divine nature.
This talk series if perfect for anyone who is willing to step into the pure potential of being human in a complex world and at the same time open to remembering the Truth of BEING.
Common Ground is an open accepting spiritual community where everyone is welcome.
Please join us each Sunday at 10:30 am.

MY FAIR LADY FASHION SHOW AND TEA
A Fund Raiser
On Saturday, May 17, 2014, Common Ground is pleased to present a springtime event benefitting both Common Ground and Breast Cancer Angels.
The event is designed to replace Common Ground's traditional Annual Yard Sales events which are held twice a year, in the spring and fall. This shift has taken place as a result of logistics and vision.
The fund raising event will provide an opportunity to not only supplement Yard Sale income but also expand Outreach and Tithing efforts to include a worthwhile organization, Breast Cancer Angels, whose mission is to provide financial, emotional and spiritual assistance for women and their families as they are going through breast cancer treatment.
The event will be based on the theme, My Fair Lady, and includes a simple elegant menu plus a fabulous runway show featuring the latest spring and summer fashions from Blondies Style, a local Old Town Tustin shop.
The fashion show and tea will take place in Common Ground's Sanctuary. While the event is open to everyone, ladies and gentlemen alike, the seating capacity will be held to eighty guests.
Those wishing to support the event are encouraged to make reservations as early as possible to guarantee a place at the table. Tickets are available online or at Common Ground.
Common Ground will have an opportunity to use its fine collection of china, glassware and teacups, which over the years have been generously donated by the spiritual community.
A delightful collection of Fascinators is available in the shops at Common Ground for those who want to 'play' along with The Revs by donning a festive hat for the occasion. There is a variety of colors, styles and sizes from which to select. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, would be pleased to wear any one of them!
This is a first-of-its-kind event at Common Ground. It is expected to be a great success. Please consider joining us. It is a meaningful way to support spiritual community and breast cancer awareness.

SERMON ON THE MOUNT
The BEatitudes
The Sermon on the Mount, a collection of sayings and teachings of Jesus, is considered a reflection of the central tenets of Christianity.
Key teachings within the Sermon on the Mount are the Beatitudes, eight blessings that present a set of Christian ideals that focus on a spirit of love and humility.
Each of the Beatitudes begins with the words, "Blessed are....", echoing the highest ideals of the teachings of Jesus on mercy, spirituality, and compassion.
The Sermon on the Mount is found in the Book of Matthew in the Christian text, the Holy Bible. The Beatitudes are included in Chapter 5, verses 3 through 12.
Jesus concerned himself exclusively with the teaching of general principles, and these teachings focus on ways of thinking.
Jesus taught the idea of cultivating an attitude of love, compassion and reliance on spiritual principles rather than on strict adherence to various rituals and the letter of dogma.
The Beatitudes beautifully express these core teachings.
Blessed are..
...the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
...those who mourn: for they will be comforted.
...the meek: for they will inherit the earth.
...those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled.
...the merciful: for they will be shown mercy.
...the pure in heart: for they will see God.
...the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God.
...those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Emmet Fox, author of The Sermon on the Mount: The Key to Success in Life, tells us Jesus taught no theology.
".....the message which Jesus brought has a unique value because it is the Truth of the nature of God and of man, and of life, and of the world; and of the relationships which exist between them."
Fox gives us a metaphysical interpretation of the Beatitudes that reveals a manual for the growth of the soul. Consider the following:
...Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Be willing to set aside your present habits of thought, your present way of life, and anything and everything that stands in the way of your awareness of the divine.)
...Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Be still and know the Presence of the Divine, which is the end of mourning.)
...Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Be willing to allow the activity of the Divine to come about in its own way, supporting your highest good.)
...Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Be patient and steadfast in searching for Truth; seeking progress not perfection.)
...Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Bless others and be blessed in return.)
...Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (Recognize the Power and Presence of the Divine in all things and express that knowing wholeheartedly in thought, word and action.)
...Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Bring about true serenity and peace in your own soul as a means to express the Divine in your own life.)
...Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Our own thinking is the source of 'persecution' when we are tempted to hold unskillful thoughts about a situation, some person, or ourselves. Cultivating right thought brings harmony, peace and joy.)
Blessed BE.

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
Celebrating Spring ~ Celebrating Easter
Common Ground is pleased to join the Christian world in celebration of the Easter Season ~ a time of beauty, renewal and rebirth.
A Continental Breakfast will be served on the patio at Common Ground beginning at 9:30 am. Coffee, juice, pastries, seasonal fruits, and cheese will be on the menu.
At 10:15 am there will be a brief celebration on the lawn and a brilliant release of white doves.
Following the dove release, there will be a fun Easter 'parade' into the Sanctuary as we enter into a time of inspiration, music and abundant blessings during our regularly scheduled Sunday service at 10:30 am.
Celebrating the idea of renewal and rebirth during this glorious time of year provides an opportunity for 'making all things new' through the changes we make in the way we embrace the world we live in.
Come enjoy the beauty, creativity and joy of a grace-filled celebration that is appropriate for everyone. Taste the sweetness of life, experience the aroma of springtime, and receive the blessings of love and inspiration. Everyone is welcome.
