 FORGIVE FOR GOOD
Holding a Grudge is Hazardous to Your Health and Happiness

During the month of MARCH Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy invite us to join them on a journey of stepping into the divine qualities of the Spring season ~ rebirth, renewal and release.

This is the time of Mardi Gras, the Lenten Season, and the Vernal Equinox ~ the first day of spring.

It is also a time of releasing what no longer serves us so that we can live our best lives in wholeness ~ with enthusiasm, vitality and a sense of well-being.

For many people, key factors that often get in the way of living life well are tendencies to carry grievances and resentments rather than allowing them to settle into a place of peace.

Forgiveness is the answer. Learning to forgive is good for our health and well-being ~ good for mental health, and physical health.

Cultivating the capacity to forgive is not only good for our minds and bodies, but, it is good for our relationships, and good for the whole world.

Forgiveness is a form of spiritual practice that is a balm for hurt and angry feelings. When we learn to relinquish our grudges we open to the possibility of being more caring, more hopeful, more compassionate, less judgmental, more accepting, and more loving.

Forgiveness is a natural expression of being human. It exists within the deepest part of all of us. It just requires practice to perfect. While it may not come easily in some circumstances, cultivating the practice of forgiveness is well worth the effort.

This is an essential topic for the complexities of the world today. Please join us every Sunday in March as we explore ways to uncover the parts of ourselves where forgiveness may be hidden.

Common Ground is an open accepting spiritual community where everyone is welcome.

Please join us each Sunday at 10:30 am.

  •  FRIENDS
     Anam Cara

Common Ground is pleased to host a new gathering, Friends, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm on the first Sunday of every month.

This is an invitation to get connected in spiritual community.

Newcomers and long-time members of Common Ground are encouraged to come together to get to know one another at a deeper level.

The gathering is an opportunity to find out more about the vision and mission of Common Ground. It is a safe way to meet new people and make new friends as well as strengthen blossoming friendships.

Friendship in spiritual community is filled with the potential of becoming anam cara (soul friends). There is no greater treasure than this.

The Friends gathering is open and ongoing. All genders, all ages, all persuasions are welcome.

Please note: this is not a networking group, a matchmaking group, or a political/cause/agenda group. Common Ground's Safe Sanctuary Policies are in effect.

Please join us. Check it out to see if it's a fit for your spiritual journey. Everyone is welcome.

     BOOK STUDY WITH THE REVS
     Reading Between the Lines

Beginning March 4th, Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy will facilitate an ongoing book study from1:00 pm to 2:00 pm every Tuesday afternoon of the month.

Forgive for Good, the main resource for March talk topics, is the first book the group will be discussing.

The format of the group is open and dynamic. Each gathering will stand on its own. There is no need to read the book in advance. Participants will be invited to read aloud, paragraph by paragraph, allowing discussion to take place as comments and questions arise.

Books are available in a limited quantity in the shop at Common Ground. Bringing a book to the group is recommended but not required.

Everyone is invited and welcome. This is a drop-in class. Participate when you can.

     SOUL SUNDAY
     Digging Deep

During service on Sunday, March 16, using the format of the popular Super Soul Sunday series featuring interviews between Oprah Winfrey and prominent guests, Common Ground will present its own version of Soul Sunday featuring a conversation between The Revs and a 'normal person' from the local community.

Together they will explore topics and issues including but not limited to forgiveness, bullying, near death experience, and conscious living.

Soul Sunday highlights the life of an everyday person who is 'walking the talk' and expressing divinity within the human activities of life.

March's Soul Sunday surprise guest brings a rich perspective to the discussion. The following clues may help discover who the guest will be:
  • Born 1966
  • Celebrated the last birthday at Release the Bats
  • Political view: Oneness and Equality
  • Favorite country: Italy
  • Loves the movie, Somewhere in Time
  • Is a 'tragic romantic'
  • Loves pomegranates
  • Celebrates Day of the Dead at Hollywood Forever Cemetery
  • Has a cat named Sheba

Recent quote: "An ENLIGHTENED SENSE OF HAPPINESS is not the result of having only a peaceful, undisturbed life, without severe challenges, betrayals, abuse, and pain along the way. Enlightened Happiness is the result of knowing all of these realities, sometimes experiencing them in the harshest possible ways, and yet still believing in the ultimate beauty of life and the possibilities of love along the way."

Mark your calendar now. Join us at Common Ground on Sunday, March 16, at 10:30 am.

Common Ground reaches out to the global community through our spiritual practice of conscious giving.

Giving back to the world is an important aspect of our mission and vision. A balanced integral approach is reflected in conscious selection of 501c3 qualified programs and institutions to which Common Ground provides tithes each month.

Recipients of Common Ground 2013 tithes include: IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences), advancing the science of consciousness and human experience to serve individual and collective transformation; Kiva, empowering people to lift themselves out of poverty; Project HOPE School, (Homeless Outreach Program in Education), helping children without permanent homes transition into the mainstream educational system; Walking Shield, helping to improve the quality of life for American Indian families; , The Humane Society of Dover-Stewart County, a not-for-profit organization rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals and placing them into good homes, Mercy House Fare Share Program, providing bus passes for homeless men, women and children in search of a better life, and The Avielle Foundation, a non-profit foundation created by the parents of a child victim of the Sandy Hook killings, aiming to support and protect vulnerable loved ones and to strengthen communities through brain health initiatives and community engagement.

     Q&A WITH THE REVS
     Open Forum

Since relocation to Golden Circle, Common Ground has experienced rapid growth and a dynamic increase in attendance at both the Sunday Inspirational Services and the many classes and workshops being offered.

Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy are sensitive to the reality that growth is awesome and at the same time brings challenges, especially in getting to know everyone on a personal basis.

On Sunday, March 30, The Revs will host an open forum at 12 noon to provide an opportunity for the spiritual community to chat with them in a casual setting and to ask questions.

The following description from Common Ground's informational brochure is a good starting point for those who are new to the community or are unfamiliar with The Revs.

Reverend Judy DePrete and Reverend Glenda Knox co-founded Common Ground in November 2004 after many years of friendship and deep soul connection.

Together they carry a wealth of experience and strength. Both have solid backgrounds and credentials with The Association of Unity Churches. Each of them holds a Religious Studies Degree from Emerson Theological Institute and each is a licensed and ordained minister.

As visionaries and inspirational leaders, they are fully capable of functioning singly; yet, choose to function as a finely tuned team, allowing them to express unique and individual styles within the framework of an integrated and balanced whole.

They are resourceful and willing to experiment with the novel. They are practical yet open to complex solutions, including advanced technology and innovative approaches.

They are open, authentic, transparent and emotionally above-board. They put themselves on the line and take full responsibility for the forward movement of Common Ground.

They easily shift into awe, reverence and humility. When in their presence there is a sense of wonder and playful delight with all of life. It is clear they are having fun and at the same time they demonstrate a depth of spiritual awareness that comes from an inner-directed core.

Everyone is invited to participate in the Q&A session.
