Catch Dinner at The Pig & The Pearl and Chick-a-Biddy before Cirque du Soleil Amaluna, October 3- November 30

Amaluna, Cirque du Soleil's newest jaw dropper, opens Friday, October 3 and swings on through November 30. Marvel as you may over the flexibility and movements of the Amaluna cast, you can do something they can't: enjoy a marvelous meal at The Pig & The Pearl or Chick-a-Biddy before the show. These pre-Cirque dinner menus appease appetites, and it's just a short after-dinner stroll through Atlantic Station to the Cirque du Soleil tent. Show your Amaluna ticket and enjoy a three-course dinner for $35 at The Pig & The Pearl. Starters swing toward deviled eggs with eggplant caponata, pimento cheese croquettes with pickled okra or kale salad with pork belly croutons and green goddess dressing. Power up to follow the show's gymnastics by choosing one of the smoked meat entres -- beef brisket, pork shoulder or Springer Mountain chicken breast -- and a side of mustard greens, apple and local squash hash, barbecue baked beans, vinegar slaw or house-cut fries with Sri"ranch"a dressing. Applaud dinner and head on to the show with theater snacks of a butter cookie, banana bread or caramel popcorn. Reservations recommended through OpenTable. At Chick-a-Biddy, show your Amaluna ticket and enjoy a three-course menu for $18. Choose between plantain chips or fried chicken tenders for a starter and among a quarter wood-grilled piri piri chicken with two sides, fried chicken and waffles or a vegetable plate for a main course. Close out with any dessert from Chick-a-Biddy's daily selection.

Tin Lizzy's Knows How to Fold 'Em for Bert's Big Adventure on National Taco Day, October 4

                Credit: Jeremy Adamo

Transport a tike to Walt Disney World by eating tacos at Tin Lizzy's Cantina locations on National Taco Day, Saturday, October 4. Say what? For each taco sold on October 4, the fun-loving cantinas are tossing a dollar over to Bert's Big Adventure. A hungry table of friends bodes well for the nonprofit organization's goals of providing Disney World family time to children with chronic or terminal illnesses. Tin Lizzy's boasts more than two dozen individually priced tacos on its menu ($2.59-$3.69). No one's judging you if you crowd the table with one of each or pick and choose your faves. Tough decision when faced with specialty tacos of Korean BBQ pork, Super Greek, Low Country (2013 Taco Contest winner) heaped with grilled shrimp, spicy chorizo and spicy ranch or the veggie with black beans and avocado sauce. Can't leave out the Santa Fe, Southern Comfort, Philly, southwest chicken club with fried chicken, bacon and chipotle mayo, the six kinds of grilled steak tacos and the five tacos filled with grilled or fried fish or shrimp. O, queso, how do you decide? A beer or margarita eases the stress!

Stop by Milton's Cuisine & Cocktails Booth and Restaurant at Crabapple Fest on October 4

It's the fest time of year, and this Saturday's Crabapple Fest is one of the best for antiques, art, music, fun and FOOD! The October 4 destination festival will take over historic downtown Crabapple from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. If you go, mosey down Crabapple Road to the booth hosted by Milton's Cuisine & Cocktails (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and try a refreshing Georgia peach basil mojito or a cherry limeade. Break for lunch at Milton's where chef Derek Dollar offers a special festival lunch menu from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Menfolk, Milton's will have live music and a full bar open at the restaurant from noon-4 p.m. in case you need to bow out gracefully and let the women tackle antiquing and art appreciation. One for the back pocket: Milton's dinner service begins at 5 p.m. Good to know in case the fest bests you and no one wants to fix supper at home.
