Heads Up Sandy Springs! Marlow's Tavern Opens in The Prado on November 19

The Prado's newest resident -- Marlow's Tavern -- opens Tuesday, November 19, giving those along the Roswell Road corridor a convenient gathering spot for lunch, dinner, drinks and sports viewing. Marlow's relaxing, "welcome home" atmosphere and signature menu items, such as the award-winning "infamous" fish tacos, Tavern burgers, the black and blue steak salad, truffled Parmesan fries and warm chocolate cake, turn first-time guests into enthusiastic regulars. Seasonal and signature menu favorites are complemented by handcrafted cocktails (e.g., the Orchard Manhattan and Skinny Ginger margarita), varied beers and global wine offerings. All items are available in the dining room or out on the covered patio, which also houses heaters and fans for year-round enjoyment. To say Marlow's is excited about moving into the neighborhood is an understatement. "We have wanted Marlow's Tavern to be a part of the Sandy Springs community for many years," according to executive chef and co-founder John C. Metz.

Seven Lamps and Brookhaven Wines Pair Up for November 20 Four-Course Wine Dinner

Before the holiday rush sets in, pause and savor a special four-course wine dinner at Seven Lamps on Wednesday, November 20. Executive chef Drew Van Leuvan draws inspiration from seasonal flavors and wines chosen by Brookhaven Wines and distributor BACCO Fine Wine, including Cavazza Prosecco, Fefinanes Albariño 2011, Solà Fred 2010 and Vin Del Mercat "Rouge IGP," Pays d' Oc France 2011. Van Leuvan's cornucopia of autumn's bounty begins with a first course of roasted baby carrots, crisp pancetta, persimmon and smoked dates followed by smoked Bramlett Farms trout with apple, turnip and dill ravigote. The third course features whole roasted duck, duck mortadella, charred beets, crisp potato and dried grapefruit. The evening reaches a chocolate conclusion over flourless chocolate, white pepper cremeux and pickled cherries served with crème de mure ice cream. Sit down to dine at 7:30 p.m. $55 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Seating is limited. Reservations required, call 404-467-8950.

UGA Inducts Melissa Libby into 2013 Grady Fellowship on November 21

Our own Melissa Libby, along with six other Grady College alumni and friends, will be inducted into the 2013 Grady Fellowship at the University of Georgia's Hotel and Conference Center on Thursday, November 21. The induction recognizes influence, achievements and service to the media professions. Melissa has been "eating and drinking" for a living ever since graduating from UGA's Grady College in 1985. She whet her appetite during several years in hotel public relations promoting cafés and fine dining rooms before launching Melissa Libby & Associates in 1992. While opening more than 250 restaurants over the years, she has remained committed to community involvement as president of the Board of Trust for the Grady College, board member of Georgia Organics and Adopt a Golden Atlanta, and as an active member in several food-focused nonprofits. You'll find Melissa in the kitchen as well - she has published two cookbooks featuring Atlanta chefs. Well done, Melissa!

Appetizing Aperture

Priced at $6 each through November 30, the top-shelf Emperor's margarita is commanding much attention at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in Midtown. The powerful traditionalist counts Patrón Silver, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, Japanese yuzu and agave nectar as his closest confidants, but he will sway toward mango, cucumber or strawberry flavors by request.
