Chicken and Waffles on Sundays, Shell Out $1 for Oysters and $3 for "Champagne" Beer-tails on Weeknights at Seven Lamps

Tackling the Sunday meal thing led Seven Lamps to come up with its own rendition of gridiron action centered on a Southern staple -- the waffle iron. Comforting cheddar waffles are the result, and they're touching down next to half a chicken, all fried and crispy, and a side that changes weekly (double thumbs up on the creamed corn) for $16. Get a whole bird for $28. Score this meal from 5-10 p.m. every Sunday. And who couldn't use a weeknight lift after a day's grind? Effervescent "champagne" Miller High Life beer-tails are $3 and oysters are $1 each from 5-7 p.m. This Buckhead stopover is easy to find in the Shops Around Lenox.

Show Your MODA "XYZ" Sticker and Receive "10 for 10" Game Play Special at Game-X

Guys, sorry but you haven't cornered the market on creating and playing video games. The gals are right there with you, as evident in the "XYZ: Alternative Voices in Game Design" exhibition running through September 2 at Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA). Experience this interactive exhibit, co-presented by MODA and Georgia Tech's Digital Media Program, and learn more about women's work as game designers and artists. Definitely a stereotype crusher on what games can be and do. Run that adrenaline rush and your MODA sticker or receipt to Game-X, and you'll receive a "10 for 10" special that adds $10 of game play to your $10 game-play purchase. You know what they say, "a woman's work is never done"...especially when it involves working on play.

Book it to Hearth Pizza Tavern August 10 for William Austin King "Sleep" Book Signing

Let's hear it for the bassoon player at Loganville High School -- the talented young man has self-published "Sleep," the first adventure in his "Enlight" book series. Author William Austin King is also a pizza fan who has Hearth Pizza Tavern on his radar for Saturday, August 10 from 12-3 p.m. Smack dab in the middle of Georgia's tax-free weekend, this book signing/meet-and-greet event has "shopping refuel stop" written all over it. Bring the kids -- they'll be inspired by this young writer. Pizza, sandwiches and tall drinks will revive you for the rest of the afternoon. For adults, Hearth Pizza Tavern's special Sleep cocktail mixes Absolut Berri Aai vodka, fresh basil, cucumber, ginger and lime juice. The bar nixes alcohol in Awake, a fruity alcohol-free blend of pineapple juice, sour mix, orange juice and grenadine. Hearth Pizza Tavern in Sandy Springs is just north of I-285 on Roswell Road making it very convenient to many back-to-school shopping havens.

Two, Too Much To Choose:  Bantam + Biddy AND Chick-a-Biddy Both Host Atlanta Community Food Bank Supper Club on August 13

Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere, the guys behind Bantam + Biddy in Ansley Mall and Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station, are always on the lookout for ways to help out their community. That's why each restaurant is hosting the Atlanta Community Food Bank Supper Club on Tuesday, August 13 from 5-10 p.m. Either way you go, you can't go wrong. You'll enjoy farm-fresh, all-natural chicken dishes and other regional fare, and the ACFB receives 20 percent of each purchase. The fast-casual atmosphere of these family loving eateries is a lifesaver during the stressful back-to-school week. Grown-up and kids' menus get an A+ at both restaurants. Tote along all of those school papers to discuss and sign over dinner and drinks (beer, wine and cocktails for mom and dad and fun beverages for the kids). Too busy for a sit down meal? Call ahead to Bantam + Biddy and pick up a family meal that serves three to five for $42 -- still counts for Supper Club! Tasty dinner, community service and family meeting all rolled into one. Way to multitask, y'all.

Echt Cool! Der Biergarten Schlager Party Adds Oompah to August 17

Back in the '60s and '70s, German schlager was pretty poppy music, a bit akin to our own country music. You know the type, employing a catchy melody, sentimental lyrics and easy to sing along with (with a few beers under your belt). "Schlager" can also refer to a hit song. Guaranteed the DJ will play everyone's favorite schlager at Atlanta's fifth Schlager Party, co-hosted by Der Biergarten and the German Chamber of Commerce, on Saturday, August 17 from 7 p.m.-midnight. The more beer specials guests relish -- such as $9 liters of Krombacher pilsner and Weihenstephan hefe -- the better the schlager is bound to be. Throw on the lederhosen and dirndls because Der Biergarten is bestowing prizes for best costume, including tickets to their German Beerfest, t-shirts and gift cards. Take us home, schlager roads to Der Biergarten in downtown Atlanta's Luckie Marietta District. Oh ja!

Longtime ACFB Supporter Janice Reece Loses Cancer Battle -- Donations Accepted

to Help Cover Expenses

She worked selflessly to help friends suffering from AIDS. She devoted 27 years to supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Sadly, after a three-year battle, a rare and incurable cancer stole Janice Reece from her friends and husband Todd. Fighting cancer is expensive. Please help Team Janice raise $10,000 to go toward expenses incurred during this amazing woman's treatment and transition. Numerous restaurant industry friends have offered incentives to encourage donations. Click here to learn more and contribute.

The official Instagram (@thebigketch) of The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill is best viewed just prior to going there. It's not fair to tease your taste buds with the sensory overload of these food photos unless you can fulfill the promise. Seriously.

Appetizing Aperture

Picture perfect peaches. Must be a photo from Watsonia Farms. Can you scratch and sniff the screen? These fat, juicy South Carolina peaches (Watsonia Farms is a hop across the border) would be perfect to use in our Peachy Keen Pinterest ideas!
