Tenders Anyone? New Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station Serves Farm-Fresh Chicken and More to BB&T Atlanta Open Fans

How about some wood-grilled piri piri wings and a cocktail served up with that tennis elbow? Perhaps fried chicken tenders with wasabi honey or brunch-favorite fried chicken and waffles? Newly opened Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station is steps away from all of the BB&T Atlanta Open court action taking place through Sunday, July 28. The fast-casual restaurant serves up lunch and dinner daily beginning at 11:30 a.m. weekdays and opens for brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Chick-a-Biddy wins over fans with wood-grilled veggies and hummus on crisped flatbread, a black bean quinoa burger and wood-grilled fish tacos. Green Biddies (salads) can be topped with fried chicken, wood-grilled chicken skewer or wood-grilled fish, including the Club Med spinach and tomato salad with cucumber, dried figs, local feta and quinoa tabouli. Weekend brunch dishes run the range from a pork sausage breakfast burger to an egg and chicken protein scramble or organic oatmeal with goji berries, almond milk and caramelized bananas. Little Biddies under age 12 have their own menu of dishes for $7.50 each that include Kiju juice or organic milk. For adults, beer, wine and cocktails are cooling after a day courtside.

Aqua blue in Roswell Launches New

Lunch Service July 29

Located a half mile east of Georgia 400 on Holcomb Bridge Road, Aqua blue has been a Northside go-to for dinner, drinks and live entertainment for more than a decade. Now, the Roswell restaurant will offer its global cuisine and extensive beverage selection for lunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning July 29. Longtime chef de cuisine and operating partner Kien Sam makes the most of seasonal ingredients in his dishes and has plenty of lighter fare for summer appetites. A run through of appetizers tags "AB" calamari with sweet chili sauce, tempura green beans and shrimp and veggie spring rolls ($4-$9). Soups and crisp salads include hot and creamy New England clam chowder; cucumber salad with crab stick, carrots and citrus ponzu; and the Aqua blue house salad with crumbled feta and asparagus on field greens ($3-$8). Sandwiches include an eight-ounce Angus beef cheeseburger, chicken club, and grilled salmon BLT -- all served with a side ($7-$9). Chef selection entres encompass pasta, seafood, chicken and beef dishes such as six-spice hanger steak and frites; teriyaki chicken or beef; and grilled chicken or shrimp fettuccini ($9-$14). Popular nigiri and sashimi specialties feature blue ribbon sushi duos, a shareable sashimi appetizer and the sushi combination plate, plus individual bagel maki, California roll, veggie tempura roll, spicy tuna crunch roll and more ($4-$12). The restaurant's extensive beverage menu is fair game along with iced tea and other cool refreshers.

Downtown Dining

The big wheel is turning at the south end of Centennial Olympic Park! Almost 20 stories tall, SkyView Ferris wheel rises up over the Luckie Marietta District to turn out a new view of Atlanta's skyline. Each of the 42 enclosed and climate-controlled gondolas holds two to six guests for a 15 minute "flight." While you're up there, scan the horizon for some of these spots to grab a bite. The Luckie Marietta District itself is home to Der Biergarten for an authentic German dining experience, Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria with its coal-fired pizzas and Italian specialties, STATS for sports viewing and Game-X for an eat-and-play combo. When the city view sets cravings toward Mexican fare, head to nearby Fifth Group Restaurant Alma Cocina, or for hand-cut steaks, seafood and sushi, Rays in the City serves it all in a casual, yet elegant setting. See a weekend getaway in your future at the Glenn Hotel, featuring American comfort-food restaurant Glenn's Kitchen and more sky views at SkyLounge that look even better with a cocktail, cool beer or glass of wine in hand!

MLA Out and About: Chick-a-Biddy Opening Parties Lend Much to Cluck About

Tables filled up fast as guests flocked to opening parties for Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere's newly opened Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station. Menu tastings from executive chef Scott Weaver included the restaurant's mainstays -- farm-fresh, wood-grilled piri piri chicken and fried chicken -- along with fried chicken fingers, blackened chicken burgers, a black bean quinoa burger, falafel, fish tacos, salads and uptown, down-home sides. Our picture hardly does justice to the chicken feed and gathering tables. Busy, yes, but there's always room for a few more.

Appetizing Aperture

RA Sushi Bar Restaurant's homemade coconut creme brulee has us fired up for National Creme Brulee Day, July 27. That glassy layer of caramelized sugar protects the smooth riches underneath...which are still very vulnerable to one's dessert spoon.

Hot diggity dog, it's National Hot Dog Month! We've pinned more ways to dress up tube steaks than you can wag a bun at and a how-to for homemade buns, pretzel wraps and relish. Looking pretty doggone delicious are tiny pepper weenies with smoked bacon and Vidalia onion marmalade; dogs wearing Dixie caviar, mangos, kimchi, sauerkraut and pretzel buns; and vegan-esque Mediterranean chickpea hot dogs and healthier beach hot dogs. Go, dogs, go!
