Now Enrolling: Exploring Our Sense of Place Program
July
Our Exploring Our Sense of Place (ESP) program is a popular
8-session seminar series in the field that includes a reception and 7 excursions with lectures by experts on a variety of subjects. ESP participants experience the San Dieguito River Valley in all its seasons, from mountain to sea, encounter plants and wildlife and connect with the River Valley through their heart and minds.

ESP is for those who want to learn more about the River Park and watershed and to strengthen their connection with nature.  Excursions begin early October on Volcan Mountain and end at the San Dieguito Lagoon in Del Mar in May.  Enrollment is limited to 25 participants. For more detailed program information visit our website.  Download the application form For questions, contact our ESP Administrator.

Osprey make new nesting platforms at the Lagoon Boardwalk Trail home.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds installed two osprey nesting platforms near the San Dieguito Lagoon Boardwalk and their south overflow lot wetlands restoration project. Osprey built nests on two of the three light poles in the Fairgrounds paved parking lot and the nesting material was transferred to the new nesting platforms while the light poles were temporarily removed. The osprey moved right in!

In May, two chicks hatched. We expect they will begin flying lessons any day. Some of our trail users have sent us amazing photos of the osprey family- check them out on our Facebook album:
