CAUSE MARKETING TODAY

September 2015

After spending 15 years in and out of prison, Dave Dahl's family gave him a second chance by welcoming him back into the family bakery. Together with his brother Glenn, Dave created a new brand called Dave's Killer Bread.

Launched in 2005 at a farmer's market in Portland, OR, Dave's Killer Bread has thrived over the past 10 years, in part by giving second chances to people with criminal backgrounds, which make up one in three employees.

In this week's episode of CauseTalk Radio, CMF's Megan Strand and Selfish Giving's Joe Waters talk with Genevieve Martin, Executive Director of the DKB Foundation. Tune in here to hear a fascinating story that will bring home the importance of storytelling, properly messaging a cause and providing leadership around a risky social issue. You'll also be reminded of the importance of using a company's core competencies when championing a cause program.

We're excited to hear what you're up to this fall so keep those cause-focused stories coming our way!

Have a great September,

P.S. Save the date! The 2016 Cause Marketing Forum will be held June 1-2 at the JW Marriott in Chicago.
