CAUSE MARKETING TODAY

January 2014

Cause marketing is hard to quantify because it encompasses so many different types of programs. One measure we look forward to each year is the IEG Sponsorship Report's analysis and forecast of spending on all types of sponsorship including cause.

Last week IEG reported that cause grew 4.8% to reach $1.78 billion in 2013. For 2014 they forecast 3.4% growth for cause to reach $1.84 billion in 2014. Cause maintained its 9% of overall sponsorship reported. Click here to see how cause has fared since 2002.

Since cause-related initiatives and programs stem from multiple budgets from marketing to community affairs to corporate philanthropy, it's likely that the actual numbers are far larger than this sponsorship survey is able to capture, but it serves as a valuable industry barometer.

We'll explore the cause-related marketplace at the 2014 Cause Marketing Forum Conference.  (We're thrilled that early registration are coming in faster than at any time in our 12-year history!)  If you haven't already, secure your spot at this year's must-attend event.

And if you worked some cause marketing magic in 2013, why not enter your campaign in the Cause Marketing Halo Awards?  The submission deadline is January 21, 2014 (you can enter as late as January 24 if you don't mind a late fee).  Questions about which category is right for your campaign? Drop us a line!

Stay warm and keep up the good works!
