Announcements
  • Pitching Prevention: Building Capacity through Communication (Webinar). Session Two. Prevention in Action: Stories from the Field. August 27, 2015. 3:00-4:30 p.m. ET. Part of the CAPT's National Learning Event Series, this webinar is designed to help practitioners begin to develop the skills they need to promote their prevention efforts to diverse audiences, drawing on best practice from the research literature and examples from the field. 
     
  • 2015 National Exemplary Awards for Innovative Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Practices, and Policies. Call for Applications extended to September 4. The Exemplary Awards recognize quality substance abuse prevention efforts from around the country, including effective and exemplary programs, practices, policies, and other initiatives. Over the past 25 years, the National Prevention Network of NASADAD has presented this award to over 50 organizations.
     
  • Unleashing the Power of Prevention. This new discussion paper from the Coalition for the Promotion of Behavioral Health makes the case that "prevention is the best investment we can make in behavioral health, and the time to make it is now."

Upcoming Events
  • National Conference on Addiction Disorders 2015. August 1-- 4, 2015. St. Louis, MO. Co-sponsored by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium, this conference provides a diverse educational curriculum on the prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery management of addictions that affect various genders, generations, and cultures.
     
  • CADCA 14th Annual Mid-Year Training Institute. August 2-- 6, 2015. Indianapolis, IN. This training institute will address topics ranging from planning and evaluation for prevention specialists, to cultural implications for coalitions in rural communities. More than 1,700 practitioners are expected to attend.
     
  • The Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) 2015 Annual Conference. October 9-- 13, 2015. Washington, D.C. This conference will include four all-day pre-conference seminars, daily keynote speakers in plenary sessions, breakout workshops, and a visit to Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders.
