Announcements
  • CDC Launches Community Health Status Indicators 2015 Website. This online tool produces public health profiles for all 3,143 counties in the U.S. Each profile includes key indicators of health outcomes, such as health care access and quality, health behaviors, social factors, and the physical environment.
T/TA Spotlights
  • CAPT Peer-Sharing Calls Foster Grantee Collaboration. To support collaboration among Partnerships for Success grantees, the CAPT has begun convening virtual peer-sharing calls---- informal opportunities for grantees to discuss emerging issues, strategize solutions to problems, share best practices, and connect with one another.

New CAPT Resources
  • New Knowledge Products Prepare Practitioners to Address Behavioral Health Disparities. Significant behavioral health disparities persist in diverse communities across the U.S., placing individuals in these communities at increased risk of substance abuse and related behavioral health problems. To support practitioners in developing effective, culturally appropriate programming to prevent these problems, the CAPT has developed two new resources highlighting successful approaches to addressing the substance abuse and related behavioral health needs of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) youth.

Upcoming Events
  • 4th Annual National Prescription Drug Abuse Summit. April 6-9, 2015, Atlanta, Georgia. Sponsored by Operation UNITE, this conference is the largest national collaboration of prevention professionals, educators, state and national leaders, and advocates affected by prescription drug abuse. Sessions are organized into eight education tracks tailored to provide stakeholders with timely and relevant information for their particular field.
     
  • 23rd Annual Society for Prevention Research Meeting. May 26-29, 2015, Washington, DC. This meeting provides a centrally integrated forum for exchanging new concepts, methods, and results from prevention research and related public health fields; and for facilitating communication between scientists, public policy leaders and practitioners concerning the implementation of evidence-based preventive interventions in all areas of public health. The theme of this year's meeting is "Integrating Prevention Science and Public Policy".
     
  • Harvard Medical School International Conference on Opioids. June 7-9, 2015. Boston, MA. This conference will explore emerging opioid research and initiatives aimed at improving care and reducing harm. Conference topics include:
    • Pharmacologic innovations: new molecules and enhanced delivery systems
    • Best practices in opioid prescribing for both pain and addiction treatment
    • The latest in opioid management including opioid rotation
    • Innovative provider education systems to improve practice
    • Phenomenology, identification and management of opioid misuse
    • Federal policies to reduce opioid associated harm
