The York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (YAMPO) announces the start of its 2019 - 2020 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding process. This Program, established by Federal transportation legislation, know as Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act or "MAP 21", combines the former Transportation Enhancements (TE) and Safe Routes to School (SR2S) programs into one program.
The York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (YAMPO) opens this process with the distribution of the Notice of Intent (NOI) form for projects to be considered for Federal Fiscal years (FFY) 2019 and 2020. The NOI form is being distributed to all municipalities, school districts and community interest groups in the county. Projects types eligible for the Program include, but are not limited to, on and off-road trail facilities, safe routes for non-drivers (includes students), conversion of abandoned rail corridors and environmental mitigation activity. The NOI serves as an aid for project sponsors to start thinking about projects and for the YAMPO to determine sponsor and project eligibility for these funds. Completed NOI forms must be submitted to the York County Planning Commission no later than 4:30 P.M., Monday, August 31, 2015.
