MME HAS A NEW WEBSITE!
Look...www.ma-marine-ed.org is live!
We are pleased to announce - at long last - that our new website is live! MME can now be found at www.ma-marine-ed.org, though the old URL will redirect you there also. 
 
Did you know that the MME website has back issues of our quarterly journal, F&J? Can't find that e-news in your mailbox? Check the website! Looking for classroom activities? We are loading up activities from past newsletters and eventually hope to catalog them. Want to become a member but aren't sure how to do that? You guessed it - check the website!

HIGH SCHOOL MARINE SCIENCE SYMPOSIA
Save the date for the 2015 High School Marine Science Symposia! There will be two events happening on Wednesday, March 18th, 2015 from 8:30-1:00.
  •   * The South event will be at UMass Dartmouth
  •   * The North event will be at Salem State University

ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT WOODS HOLE
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 for our annual conference and meeting at WHOI This year's theme will be Marine Technology. Based on your feedback, we will be offering more in the way of workshops this year.  More details to follow soon!

Flotsam and Jetsam - Thar She Blows!
The Autumn issue of F&J is online! The theme of this edition is "Whaling in New Bedford", a timely topic following this summer's spectacular voyage of the Charles W. Morgan. The new F&J features news & activities from the New Bedford Whaling Museum and other MME interests.

We're always looking for educators to share stories and lesson plans! Contact the F&J Editor to contribute.
OPPORTUNITIES FROM MEMBERS AND PARTNERS
February Vacation Week Opportunity
The New England Aquarium is hosting a 3-part professional development workshop series for educators in Grades 3-8. The series, which focuses on research-based ocean science, runs from February 17-19, 2015. PDPs or graduate credit available. For more information, click here.
MITS Educator Workshops
Join the Museum Institute for Teaching Science for educator professional development on a variety of topics such as ecology, astronomy, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Four seminars will be offered between January and April at Clark University in Worcester. For more information, please click here.

Summer Job Opportunity
Leap for Education, in collaboration with Salem Sound Coastwatch and Salem Public Schools, are looking to hire instructors and paraprofessionals to teach a 6-week marine-focused summer program to middle schoolers this summer. "From the Bow Seat" Contest Open

From the Bow Seat announces its contest for 2015, which invites high school students to compete for cash prizes by tackling the issue of "Our Oceans, Our Plastic", individually or collaboratively. The deadline is June 15, 2015. More information can be found here

Ocean Frontiers - Free Films for Educators
The producers of the Ocean Frontiers films are making copies of their film available to MME members. Two films are available that relate to ocean stewardship and sustainability. To sign up for your copy and for more information, click here.
