Gifts for Your Favorite Irisarian
'Perfect Gift'

Or would-be irisarian.  Some things they might enjoy for the holidays.  And if others are looking for gifts you would enjoy, you can add these to their lists.

We have received the first shipment of Kevin Vaughn's book for the AIS Storefront.  More on the book in Andi Rivarola's review of "Beardless Irises, A Plant for Every Garden Situation" on the World of Irises. The price is $30.00 (US), $40.00 (Canada) and $50.00 (International). See the AIS Storefront for general ordering information.  Note that you can place and receive your order for the book even before it is shown on the Storefront.

Check out the other iris items on the Storefront and other Sections' shops.  There are books, publications, calendars, postcards and more for you to choose from.

Another gift to consider is a gift membership to AIS, one of the Sections, or your local Club. Memberships make great gifts for holidays, birthdays, and graduations.   Here is where you can purchase memberships online or see the membership page

Welcome to the last regular issue of 2015 for the AIS News & Notes.  Much more coming in 2016 so please let us know what you would like to see here.  If you have topics you would like to add, or you would like to become a reporter, please let us know!  You can contact either Bob Pries or Wayne Messer with your comments or interest.  Thank you everyone for your continued  feedback and support.
British Dykes Medal
'Stephen Wilcox' - 2011 British Dykes Medal

Something that does not occur every year; a British Dykes Medal awarded.  The 2014 recipient is 'Iceni Sunset' by Barry Emmerson.  Note that the Iris Encyclopedia does not yet have a photo of this tall bearded iris; however, you can see a photo of the winner here on The English Iris Company website.  Congratulations to Barry!

The winner was listed on the British Iris Society website, look under More for a complete list of British Dyke Medal Winners.  You can also see the list with links to the winning irises on the Iris Encyclopedia here.

The British Iris Society website also lists their upcoming iris events.  Beginning with the Reticulata Show February 7th followed by the Dwarf and Median Show April 23rd.  Check out their website for more details on these and other topics.
Think About Your Year-end Donations
'Happy New Year'

As the holidays approach and the New Year arrives, remember December 31st is your last opportunity this year to have tax deductions for your contributions to AIS.  There are a number of funds to which contributions can be designated.

The AIS Foundation is the organization which handles donations for AIS.  It has this website; however, note that where you send your donations has recently been changed and the website may not yet reflect it.  The correct recipient is now Jill Bonino and the address is:

Jill Bionino
AIS Foundation Sec./Treas.
3110 Kirkham Dr.
Glendale, CA 91206-1128

Here also is the updated address and a list of the funds you can designate.  You can also see the updated details in the Fall 2015 Irises Bulletin on page 8.

This is a great means of getting a tax deduction and supporting the AIS.  Thank you.
Slideshows from the World of Irises

Something a little different from the World of Irises AIS blog.  While these still feature beautiful iris photos, this time they are also in slideshows that Dawn Mumford has created for everyone's enjoyment.  She has three (so far) posts with links to the corresponding slideshows.  These posts are: Each slideshow is 3 to 5 minutes in length and includes accompanying music.  Something you might like to be showing before your club meeting or during breaks.

Also, be sure to see the the other approaches she uses in the first post as well.  Lots of great ideas here.

Thank you Dawn.  And thank you to all the contributors to the World of Irises.  There are so many great posts appearing there we cannot cover them all in News & Notes.  However, you can see them all beginning here.
A Seasonal Jigsaw

An iris sentiment for all seasons.  This is 'Pray For Peace' by Gordon Plough.  Enjoy either the standard difficulty puzzle or the harder difficulty puzzle along with your holiday.

Best wishes for you and yours as we finish this year and begin the next.
