Quick Links Updated

The Quick Links section below has been updated to include the AIS Sections and Cooperating Societies.

However, we have arranged it a little differently than you will find it on the AIS website.  There you will find a page for Sections and a page for Cooperating Societies.  Here you will find them separated into those based on types of irises and those with particular interests.  How would you arrange the 12 (currently) groups?

You probably noticed that we have added 13 links.  That is because we included the Section currently being organized, the Novelty Iris Society.  This link points to the page on the Iris Encyclopedia where you can learn about their history, plans, and how to become a Charter Member.

Please let us know what you would like included in the Quick Links.  What do you use frequently or think others would find useful?

Spuria Poll Deadline November 30th

The deadline for Spuria Iris Society members to submit their list of  favorite spurias from the 2014 season has been extended to November 30th.  You can select up to 10 irises and varietal comments are welcome.  Send your list to Kate at kbrewitt@rogers.com.

See the list of 2012 and 2013 poll winners here.  And the 2014 results will be in the Spring Edition of the Spuria News.  See membership information and join online here.
Fall Irises Bulletin is Available

You should have your Fall 2014 Bulletin in your mailbox already.  See Andi Rivarola's description on the World of Irises blog.  A great issue with photos of AIS Medal Winners and the 2014 Photo Contest Winners!

You can see it online with your Emembership by going here (username and password required).  And learn more about becoming an Emember at the end of this newsletter.
Photo Contest Winners

The latest Irises Bulletin has the 2014 Photo Contest Winners.  You can see all 76 photos that are winners, runner-ups, and honorable mentions on the AIS website as a slideshow here.  And this page now has links for the photo contest winners from 2008 through 2014.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Time to start thinking about your photos for the 2015 Photo Contest as well.
AIS Committee Email Updates

Some technical difficulties have required changes to some email addresses of the AIS committees.  These were irises.org email addresses that have been changed to the committee members personal email addresses.  Janet Smith's email address for some of her responsibilities, such as aisphotocontest@irises.org, is now her personal email of gbyp456@gmail.com.  With the old address, you will receive a bounced message notice.

You can see the updated email addresses (and keep up with any other changes) on the AIS Committee Contacts page.  Other good pages to be aware of, contact information for Officers is on the AIS website here, and; for Directors see this page.
Region 6 Has a New Website

Region 6, covering Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan,  has their new website available.  Check it out beginning here.  They have done a nice job recognizing their Medal winning hybridizers and other ballot winners on their front page and on the hybridizers page.

The More Info page has copies of their recent newsletters, information about the display gardens in their Region, and lists of reblooming irises for the Region or Indiana.  The reblooming information was originally compiled by Mary Lou Swann-Young and is being updated by Jean Kaufmann.

For more reblooming information, you can see the Reblooming Iris Society website.  Their Gallery 1 has all types of reblooming irises except TB.  See Gallery 2 for listings of TB rebloomers.

One other observation about the Region 6 website, this is a Weebly website.  It is a choice you might consider if your Club or Region is setting up a website.  Weebly claims that building a website has never been easier; it is all drag and drop done in your browser.  Certainly, Region 6 illustrates what a nice website can be created with it!
A Rare Jigsaw Puzzle

An iris originally planted in 2009 which bloomed well this year; not sure if it was the first time or just my first time to get a good photo.  It is the IB 'Rare Edition', which is a Sass Medal Winner.

Again, two versions for your enjoyment.  See the Standard version here.  Or try the Harder version with twice the number of pieces here.

What puzzles would you like to see?  Please send your suggestions and comments to wrmesser@gmail.com .  Thank you for your help.
Become an Emember

The Emembers Login link can now be found in the Quick Links in the left column.  You will need your username and password which comes from the AIS Membership Secretary (aismemsec@irises.org).
