Dear Crew Youth Families,
We are happy to welcome back Billy Thompson, Crew Youth Director of Coaching and Player Development, from a 2 week trip to France. These were the first two weeks of a 16 month elite player development course put together by Major League Soccer. The course will include 8 weeks of intense on field and classroom coursework hosted by the French Football Federation and two weeks of European Professional Club observation. Fluent in French after playing in France for 3 years before joining the Columbus Crew, Billy was able to bridge the language gap to take full advantage of a week of club observation at Paris St. Germain after the first week of course work at the French National Team training facility in Clairefontaine, just outside Paris.
Highlights of the trip included watching PSG first team training with David Beckam and sitting between FIFA Director, Walter Gagg, National Technical Director of the French Futbol Federation, Francois Blaquart, at the course commencement banquet.

CREW'S ORTHOPEDIC GROUP TO OFFER INJURY PREVENTION CLINICS
|
Dr. Pete Edwards (Crew Team Physician) and his staff will be conducting a series of ACL Injury Prevention clinics to many our U12-U15 players and parents. On March 14 and 20, the OhioHealth Orthopedic group will instruct players & coaches on the appropriate training warm-ups to help prevent the serious ACL injuries that can occur with our youth players. The FIFA 11+ Program is offered through a grant from Johnson & Johnson. More information can be found here. FIFA 11+Your team administrator and/or coach will notify you if your team is participating in this series, but all players will have an opportunity sometime during the year. |

SKILL ACADEMY LEAGUE -
REGISTERING NOW FOR SPRING

ATTENTION 4 - 8 year olds!
Consider having your youngsters join us for this developmental recreational league that operates in several locations throughout the Columbus area. Beginning in April, boys and girls from ages 4 to 8 will receive technical skill training on weeknights with festival-style games on Sunday afternoons. The program is designed to foster a passion for the game of soccer by creating a fun environment in which young players can master the fundamental skills.
