COACH'S SPOTLIGHT - JEREMY PARKINS
|
 | | Freddy Adu takes on Jeremy at Obetz |
What teams do you coach?
I work with our High School aged teams in general and specifically coach our 19s/20s, Academy, Pre-Academy and Gold girls teams.
What's your soccer playing experience?
My favorite soccer experience has to be the opportunity to spend time with the reserve team for the Crew. To now have the chance to work alongside guys I grew up watching play (Brian Bliss and Billy Thompson) and guys I had a chance to learn a lot from when I was with the reserve team (Frankie Hejduk and Duncan Oughton) was an invaluable experience and a significant part of my life. One specific moment I remember vividly was playing against Freddy Adu. He was fresh into the league and it created a unique challenge and experience that I won't forget. He was quick to say the least.
What is your favorite soccer tournament? Why?
I don't know if I have a favorite tournament, but I enjoy all of the college showcase events. It's not only a chance for our players to showcase their skills, but a chance to connect with college coaches from across the country and talk to them about our players.
I don't have a pet right now, if I did, it would probably suffer from starvation and thirst since I am never home.
Do you have a favorite sport, other than soccer?
I truly enjoy basketball and still play from time to time. Growing up I played H.S. and AAU ball and had a lot of fun times. In H.S our AAU team lost in the quarter finals of the AAU championships in Las Vegas. To play in front of Coach K and some of the biggest names in college basketball was fun.
