Crew Awards and Casino Night

The 2012 Team Awards Ceremony presented by adidas and Crew Soccer Foundation Casino Night on Tuesday, October 23 at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The Awards Ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. with the Casino Night to follow.
Three Crew Youth awards will be handed out at the event: adidas U19/20 Player of the year, adidas Crew Soccer Academy U17/U18 Player of the year and adidas Crew Soccer Academy U15/U16 Player of the year. This is an exciting event you won't want to miss, click here for more information and pricing.

Hello Crew Youth Families,
Can you believe our Fall Season is almost over? Where did the time go... We have been pleased with the launch of our Youth Academy (U7-U10). With anything, change has its challenges, but we are firm in the belief that this new format will provide our young players with the benefit of developing superior soccer skills, while enjoying the great game of soccer. We look forward to making the spring season even better. Our first Crew Fall Classic was a success as we welcomed 90 teams, half of which were from outside our organization, including teams from Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. The response from teams was very positive; we learned a lot and the experience will help us make next year's event even stronger. . New in this newsletter is the "Coach's Spotlight". Each issue we will introduce you to a coach in our Crew Youth System. The first installment goes to our Crew Youth Director of Coaching, Billy Thompson. Good Luck to all teams participating in end-of-season tournaments. The next two weeks will be very busy. We will hold supplemental tryouts for all players who are interested in joining our teams for the Spring. These tryouts are to fill open spots on existing teams and in some occasions new teams will be formed. Spread the word to your friends!

It is important for soccer players to continue improving their technical skills and physical abilities during the winter months . While training all out for 12 months can lead to fatigue and injury, we recommend using the winter season as a time for players to focus on individual technical development and improving their speed, quickness and agility. Players can choose the number of sessions per week that fit their schedule.
Our program includes sessions for U7-U19 players:
- Technical/Tactical
- SAQ (Speed, Agility & Quickness)
- Goalkeeper Training

What teams do you coach?
Crew Soccer Academy U16 and U18 Teams
What is your soccer playing experience?
I played at UCLA (1986-90), was a 2 time All-American and 1990 adidas National Player of the Year. I played for F.C. Pau in France from 1991-94, U.S. National Beach Soccer team in 1994-95, Hawaii Tsunami 1995, MLS Columbus Crew 1996-2000. I earned 3 caps with the US National Team.
Do you have a favorite sport other than soccer?
What is your favorite soccer memory?
I have two. I played with Rod Stewart for two years during my off season at UCLA. In one game, I scored a hat trick and Rod picked me up in celebration. Later, while we were enjoying the victory, he sang a song about me for the crowd. It was pretty cool.
When I played for the Crew, I sat out a year with an ACL injury. Upon my first game back, I was subbed into a 1-1 match against the L.A. Galaxy in the 87th minute. I scored the winning goal off a left footed half-volley outside the top of the box in the upper 90.
Who is your favorite current Crew player?
When you aren't coaching what do you like to do?
Spend time with my wife and two children Kendal and Nicholas. If there is any extra time I like to spend time on, in or near the water.

As the fall season winds down and the high school season begins, we would like to remind everyone that the deadline to order uniforms for all players has passed.
