DON'T FORGET!
  • Fill out your CUC Generosity Pledge Card for 2014!  This helps us in determining the church's budget for the fiscal year.  You can download a pledge card from our website here or pick one up at the Information Desk on Sunday morning.  Your generosity is always appreciated!
  • There is still time to make your 2013 tax deductible contributions to CUC!  Online donations can be made from this link via Paypal, or credit card donations can also be made at the Information Desk on Sunday mornings or by stopping by the church office during the week.  Of course, cash and checks are always appreciated, as well!
  • Pick up and USE your CUC King Soopers Gift Card!  It's an easy process at King Soopers - just as the checker to add funds onto your gift card as you need them.  CUC receives 5% cash back each month!  Need a new card?  Visit the Information Desk on Sunday morning, or stop by the church office during the week.

Contact Lee Ann, CUC's Business Manager, at leeann@columbinechurch.org if you have any questions regarding your 2013 level of giving.

Reminder:

We have surpassed our goal of feeding 30,000 people in 2013!  But please continue bringing non-perishable food items.

Consider asking your care groups to contribute non-perishable items - Care Group 6 has provided about two and a half  grocery carts full of food so far this year.

As of November 17th the generosity of CUCers has provided 32,919 meals.  Thank you...and keep it up!  Remember, our goal was 30,000 in 2013, but there's no reason not to increase that goal!

Sunday School.  Sunday school is offered at both contemporary worship services - (9:30 and 11:00 a.m.).

Fall Sunday School Volunteers Needed.   It's time to sign up to volunteer with our Sunday morning children's ministry program.  We have openings through December for Shepherds (the 2nd adult in each classroom who mostly helps with classroom management and assists the classroom teacher), Greeters, Godly Play Storytellers and Doorkeepers.  You can signup here.  If you have any questions, contact Taylor (Taylor@columbinechurch.org) or Kelsey Poos-Benson (kelsey@columbinechurch.org).

Children's Sunday School Check-out Procedure.  Parents, please remember to be diligent with picking your kids up from the Sunday school classroom. Teachers and shepherds are being reminded of this protocol as far as only releasing kids when parents are present. Safety is always an expectation and we would like to continue to have a safe and secure place for our children. PLEASE remind your children that they are to wait for you before they can leave the classroom at the end of Sunday School.

Social Media Safety.  Is your child safe using social networking sites?  A site called "Ask.fm" has become very popular.  Pastor Justin encourages you to read the following information about this site.  Visit : http://jeffco.us/district-attorney/news/2013/da-warns-parents-and-kids-about-dangers-of-social-networking-site/.

VOLUNTEER CORNER

Update on the One and Done projects!  Since the concept was started in September, CUC once again stepped up and helped create successful outcomes!

Here is a brief summary of the projects:

September.  We packed 120 flood buckets and 223 hygiene kits for the Estes Park/Loveland flood relief efforts.

October.  We made 15 blankets for the Linus Project, and we cleaned up the grounds around our building.

November.  We sent 125 coats and 8 bins of mittens, gloves, hats, sweatshirts and warm clothing to Estes, specifically the Crossroads Ministries, for distribution to the families affected by these disasters.  We also heard of a need for heavy duty rakes; we sent them up.

December.  We signed and sent 325 Christmas cards to MD for distribution through the Holiday Mail for Heroes program.  We collected enough food for 12,172 meals (Feed the Need, Generosity Sunday and the kids in the Sunday School).  We are going to bless the Lyons Community Church with our Christmas Eve collection to help with their continued relief efforts.  Thank you for being the generous congregation that you are.  Without your support, none of these projects could happen.  You are a blessing to many.

Thanks to all of Our Decorators.  The church is looking lovely for the holiday season!  On December 1st, under Barb Rudolf's leadership, a group of volunteers worked all afternoon hanging the Christmas decorations.  Thanks to Lisa Johnson, Marian Bland, Bonnie Douglas, Susan Markley, Frank & Barbara Livingston, Marian Hollingshead, Lee Soggin, Mark Johnson, Jim Rudolf, Suzan Leach, and Roger Ponds.  Also helping were the Youth Group, Tag Worley, Dot Schicktanz, Josie Hamlen, and Steve Poos-Benson.  Thank you everyone!

Visitation Ministry Training.   The training scheduled for December 7th, has been postponed.  It will be rescheduled for some time in January.   To register for the class or to get more information about this ministry, contact Betsy Rehling at (303) 932-0226 or at betsyrehling@yahoo.com.  The deadline for registration is Wednesday, December 4th.

Thanks for your continued support of CUC projects!

Did you know?
When you or your group volunteers to work in the kitchen, you get a $75.00 contribution to your mission group?

Tuesday Morning Study   9:30-11:30 in Fireside Chapel. From now through our Christmas brunch, we will be studying the Psalms. How many centuries have individuals and faith communities embraced these words and sentiments to speak with God?  Poetry.  Hymns.  Prayer.  The Psalms express a wide range of human feelings, including praise, as well as anger, fear and tears, thanksgiving and doubt.  All are welcome.

null CUC MISSIONS

Make a Difference.  Honor your family and friends this Christmas with gifts from Heifer International, Habitat for Humanity, and Church World Service.  Stop by the Mission Table on Sunday mornings through December 22nd to see how you can share God's love through your gifts by helping those who are hungry, have no place to call home, or shiver in the cold.

FAMILY PROMISE ROTATION CHRISTMAS WEEK:  We are hosting the families the week of Christmas - Dec. 22 - 29 - at St. James Presbyterian.  We will need people to help with meals, spending the night and other odds and ends.  The sign up is at the Mission Table.  Stop by and see where you can fit into this great mission.  We are also asking for any loose change you have, so we can get each person a small stocking with goodies to have on Christmas morning.  There is a jar on the Mission Table.  Just drop your spare change so we can make Christmas morning a little more special for the families.  Any questions, call Linda Chatfield at 303-989-5622.  Thank you !!

Salvation Army Angel Tags can now be found on the Christmas Tree in the Narthex.  Please take a tag and return your unwrapped gifts with the tag firmly attached.  All gifts are due by December 15th.

Heart for TeensA Love INC Gap Ministry for teenagers.  At Christmas time there are many agencies and organizations that provide gifts for younger children.  However, you will be hard pressed to find a program that is geared toward providing gifts for teens during the holidays.  Teens that come from homes that are facing difficult circumstances are often without anything during Christmas.  Love INC established Heart for Teens to help meet this need in the S.W. Metro area.  Heart for Teens provides a place for parents of teenagers to shop for their child.  They receive goodies and conversation while volunteers wrap their gifts!  So, while you're doing your own Christmas shopping, pick up a few extra items for teens in need.  Check the Mission Table in the Narthex for a list of gift suggestions, along with the box for your donations.

Colorado Gives Day.  December 10th is "Colorado Gives Day."  Go to ColoradoGivesDay.org for more information.
