JUNE 30th
A TRULY BIG DAY AT CUC!!!
We begin the day with work in our community. Columbine in the Community will take the place of church service. Hopefully, you've signed up for one of the many opportunities available. If not, you can sign up in the Narthex on Sunday, or online, at this link, throughout the week. There are many opportunities to choose - something for everyone! When your community work is done, go home and have a little nap before you join us for an all-church picnic and party at Clement Park at 5:00 p.m. We have two pavilions reserved (Shelters 4 & 5) so there's lots and lots of room for everyone. It will be great fun for the entire family. Bring your dancing shoes because Loose Change, Tag Worley's band, will be playing and they're really good! And, of course, we'll have plenty of food, drinks and games for the entire family. It will be a good way to "wind down" after a busy and productive day. What a great way to get to know your church family better and revel in the great church we are all a part of! So - dedicate the entire day to CUC. We look forward to seeing you there! |

Sunday School. At 10:00 a.m. we have classes for our Preschool through 5th grade children on the lower level.
Middle School Youth Group meets Wednesdays, from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM. If you are in 6th - 8th grade, come and hang out, learn about God, and figure out how to survive Middle School together.
High School Youth Group meets Wednesdays from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM. If you are in 9th - 12th grade, this is a great time to relax, hang with people who love you for being you, and talk about life together.
Signupgenius & Volunteering - Have you signed up to volunteer in Sunday School? You can do so by following the Sunday School Signup Genius Link. Our Summer Schedule is up and running! We use a co-op model here at CUC, so we want all of our parents to volunteer in some capacity. You can also sign up at the Children's Ministry registration area downstairs.
Children's Sunday School Check-out Procedure. Parents please remember to be diligent with picking your kids up from the Sunday school classroom. Teachers and shepherds are being reminded of this protocol as far as only releasing kids when parents are present. Safety is always an expectation and we would like to continue to have a safe and secure place for our children. PLEASE remind your children that they are to wait for you before they can leave the classroom at the end of Sunday school.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
CPR Class. There will be a CPR class at CUC tomorrow evening, June 13, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. For non-nursery members, the class is $60.00.
Embrace the move to a paperless worship service at CUC! We're on a mission to improve the environment and save CUC some money! We began last Sunday, June 9th, with no hard copy of the Bulletin. Everything you need to know is in this weekly E-blast. Announcements will run each Sunday on the projection screens both before and after worship. You can also read through the announcements on the TV in Biel Hall as you're enjoying your breakfast. We're working on adding the weekly announcements to our website as well, and providing you with a QR code at the end of each service as a direct link to them - so stay tuned! A limited number of hard copies of the announcements will be available at the Information Desk for those that need them.
Stolen Bike. One of our young crew leaders at VBS had her bicycle stolen from the church grounds on Wednesday. If anyone has a spare girls mountain-type bike to donate, it would be welcomed. This is the second bicycle that has been stolen from this young girl.
Rent-a-Youth. Need help with light yard work, pet care, babysitting or cleaning? Consider renting the time and talents of your CUC Youth! Stop by and see us in the Narthex to find the right youth to meet your needs, then schedule the project and pay when the service is complete. All proceeds go to our high school mission trip to Racine, Wisconsin in June.
A Message From Carla & Wally Keesecker. Thank you all for your support for Walk MS 2013. You generously helped us raise $3,140 to fund research that will stop MS, restore lost function and end MS for future generations. God bless you all, and thank you again.
Audition & Performance Workshop with Mitch Samu. One Day Only. Only 20 spots left. Sunday, June 23rd from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. $25 non-refundable deposit holds a spot for you.
God's Trombones, Mitch's 2nd BHAG of 2013 starts rehearsals this Saturday, June 15th from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the sanctuary here at CUC. Come and join in. It will be a lot of fun.
Tuesday Morning Study Group, 9:30 - 11:30, in the Sanctuary. For three Tuesdays, beginning June 18, Rev. Steve Poos-Benson will lead a class on the Tao Te Ching, using the translation by Stephen Mitchell (including his Forward and Notes.) Written by Lao-tzu, the Tao Te Ching is the classic manual on the art of living. Also called the Book of the Way, it confronts the basic predicament of being alive and gives advice that imparts balance and perspective, a serene and generous spirit. The book is available on Amazon as well as some area book stores. Please obtain your copy and read it in advance of the first meeting.
Visit CUC on Pinterest. Now you can follow CUC on Pinterest at this link! We'll share information about upcoming sermons and inspiring art, graphics, scripture, and maybe even a little humor. It's a work-in-progress as we build this newest form of media to bring our CUC community together.
Check Out the QR Codes posted around the building. If you have questions, check with Josie.
Watch for 3 Steps Back on Rocky Mountain PBS, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. It's Mitch's musical lesson about staying safe and being wary of strangers, and was produced for Denver Public Schools.
Columbine in the Community is coming up June 30th. There will be no worship service that day. Our spiritual needs will be met by working in the community. Sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex, or sign-up online. Contact Barb Rudolf at (303) 979-8766 or at Barbara@columbinechurch.org. There are so many opportunities to serve and the reward is great! Feeding 30,000. Food donations are behind for the year. Please remember to bring your non-perishable food so we can accomplish our goal.
Prayer Shawl. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Tuesday of each month in the Parlor. If you would like to knit, or if you would like to learn to knit, please feel free to join them at 7:00 p.m. This ministry has been providing comfort to those in need for many years.
Ireland Trip. Well, we now have 36 people traveling to Ireland in October. There are only a few spots left so if you're considering the trip, contact Barbara Rudolf now and get that seat reserved. (303) 358-3410.
Job Network. CUC offers a job network for those looking for work and employers looking for good employees. If you need help writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews or learning how to network, contact Ellen Glover at 303-549-6563 or at gloverellen@hotmail.com. Ellen will work with you personally to help successfully win the job you want. Employers who have openings should contact her with leads to see if there is a match within the CUC congregation. The goal is to keep a positive attitude and continue job searching while working through a real emotional process.
Join us in Guatemala. We are currently forming a Vision Team (October 19-26) for Common Hope in Antigua, Guatemala. Fundraising for Common Hope is a large part of the team effort. We are selling coffee grown by farmers affiliated with Common Hope, as well as products from the Women's Bean Project as part of our efforts. Both are available in Biel Hall. For more info, contact Pat Smatla at (303) 933-8609 or by email at patsmat1@comcast.net. You can also contact Jody Randall at jodrand55@gmail.com. Hope to see you there!
He Said What? Does the Sunday sermon prompt a question in your mind? Want to get clarity on something that was said? Then jot down your question(s) on the detachable part of Sunday's bulletin and drop it in the offering plate. These questions will be addressed in a short YouTube video that will be available on-line early in the week following the sermon.
Notary Public. Don't forget that the church has a Notary Public on staff. If you need this service, call the church office.
Do we have your current email address? In an effort to update our records and to cut costs on mailing, we're asking everyone to drop an email to cuc@columbinechurch.org with your current email address.
When You Use a Room here at CUC for your functions, please remember that it is your responsibility to put the room back as you found it, including any furniture that may have been moved. Thank you for helping to keep CUC usable for so many of our groups and committees!
Club News. If you're looking for a way to meet more people at church, why don't you consider joining one of our many clubs? We have a book club, Bridge club, motorcycle club, knitting group-you name it. The Cheap Chicks meet the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00 for dinner and then some bargain shopping. For more information on any of these, call Josie at (303) 241-8797.
