In January 2014, the State of California introduced several new business incentive programs intended (in part) to replace the State's former Enterprise Zone program, which was terminated in 2013.

One of these State incentives is the New Employment Credit (NEC) program. The City of San Diego's Economic Development Team has developed a unique on-line estimating tool to allow business owners to find out if their business may be eligible for NEC program benefits.
