October is College and Career Connections Month in Escondido, an exciting, collaborative effort headed up by the Escondido Chamber of Commerce that brings together local workforce development and educational organizations for a series of important events:
October 8, 7 p.m.
Local Candidates' Forum, Escondido City Council Chambers
Find out where local school board, city and state candidates stand on issues such as education, jobs and future growth.
October 15, 5 - 8 p.m.
College Fair, California Center for the Arts, Escondido
Geared toward students in grades 8-12 and their parents, representatives of 70+ colleges and universities from across the country will answer questions and provide information.
October 19, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Job Fair, Escondido Adult School
For those interested in a new job or learning about training and resources to develop new skills.
October 21, 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
"Education Way" at the Escondido Street Faire
Take a stroll down this educational corridor on Orange and Grand. Find out about preschool to pre-college requirements, career exploration, workforce development and post-secondary education. October 24, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Small Business Luncheon, Escondido Public Library "Economic Outlook 2013 - The New Normal for Small Business" featuring Kelly Cunningham, Senior Fellow with the National University System Institue for Policy Research. Space is limited, register now!October 25 Job Shadow Day Escondido Education COMPACT's annual event provides high school students with the opportunity to "shadow" a professional for a few hours and experience what it's like to be in the working world.
