This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Houston Grand Crit, Sunday, May 3rd. This popular fast-paced downtown bike race is hosted by Bike Barn and Tile Roofs of Texas. The event will feature multiple races open to both enthusiasts and professionals across multiple skill categories. And this year to help us celebrate a decade of Crit racing along Allen Parkway, we are kicking off the day with the new Taco Run 5k. Come join the fun...Run, Bike and Eat Tacos.

Interested in trying out that Trek you've had your eye on? Well, now is your chance. Trek is hosting a complimentary bike demo at our University location on April 4th from 10am-3pm. Check out the Emonda or Domane road bikes, or, give the Superfly or Fuel EX mountain bikes a ride. There is a full trailer of men's and women's bikes available in every size. This is a unique opportunity, Trek is only in town one day and won't be here again until the Fall. Don't put it off, come join us this Saturday and ride some of the best bikes on the market.

Join us on April 26th to see some of the world's best triathletes compete at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas 70.3. Bike Barn is there providing our professional support all weekend and helping the amazing athletes make sure their bikes are in race condition. Come experience a Triathlon in person, this is a great spectator course. And best of luck to the Bike Barn Tri Club, Race Team and all of our friends and customers that are taking on this amazing challenge.

Mark your calendar for the next Cigna Sunday Streets taking place on April 26th in the Heights. From 12-4pm, the City will close part of 19th Street for walkers, rollers, runners, strollers and cyclists to enjoy the neighborhood while having fun with their fellow Houstonians. Check out last month's Sunday Streets. Don't miss out on this great event and a chance to spend some time outside and be active.

Bike Barn is pleased to offer a unique Test Ride opportunity for the BP MS 150. Specialized is in town with over 30 high-end bikes for individuals to test-ride for the weekend. There are a limited number of bikes available...so don't wait.It's easy, just reserve the bike and then pick it up on Friday April 17th. Then enjoy the ride and  return it at the finish in Austin. This is a great opportunity to test one of the best, don't miss out...inventory is very limited and available on a first come, first-served basis.

 

Join us at the Bar 0 Ranch/Union Chapel Vineyards on Saturday, May 2nd for the 7th Annual Michael T. McCann Memorial Bike Ride. This BP MS 150 Recommended Ride will feature a 19, 35, and 68 mile route, beginning at 7:30am. All proceeds of this family event will directly benefit the Fulshear community. Help support Fulshear and let them know that cyclists appreciate their hospitality...we know you have been riding out there...let's show them some love!

 

The Inaugural Petal for a Purpose bike ride will be taking place on Saturday, May 2nd. This new ride will start out of the Boys and Girl Country campus in Hockley and feature a 15, 38, and 58 mile route. Registration includes access to enjoy a post-ride festival including music, games and complimentary lunch for participants. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Country campus. This is a wonderful charity and helps so many boys and girls, please come ride and help make this an amazing experience for everyone.


 Don't forget to get your bike inspected before the BP MS 150. We know you have been training a lot, it's probably time your bike needs a professional check-up before the big ride. Plus, all bikes with inspection stickers receive free labor over the BP MS 150 weekend during the ride. You can come to any of our 7 stores for a Free Inspection and most of the time we can inspect the bike while you wait. But hurry, because Free Inspection ends on April 10th, and after that date will cost $15.

Are you up for a challenge and interested in supporting a great cause? Then the Tour du Rouge is just for you. This six-day, 550 mile ride from Houston to New Orleans will be taking place from May 3rd-8th this year. This is one of the best supported rides you have experienced. Great ride support, amazing food, amazing new friends and no one treats you better than a Red Cross volunteer. They are there to help make this the most enjoyable experience possible. All logistics are taken care of during the ride; your only concern is enjoying the view from your bike. This ride benefits the Red Cross and the amazing work they do along the Gulf Coast.
 

 

The annual TriGirl Super Sprint will take place on Sunday, May 10th. This race will feature a sprint triathlon and sprint duathlon starting out of Alexander Deussen Park on Lake Houston. The triathlon will consist of a 200 yard swim, 8 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run while the duathlon will consist of a 1/2 mile run, 8 mile bike and 2 mile run. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Harris County Precinct 1 Street Olympics Program. This event is perfect for anyone who has ever thought about trying out either a triathlon or duathlon- come see what it's all about and feel free to bring mom out too!


As all triathletes know, proper aero positioning can make the difference between winning a race and coming up just short. Join us for next month's fit clinic and learn how to achieve the ideal aero position while understanding the importance of aerodynamics. Making simple adjustments to your bike and your bike fit can make a big difference in your racing. This clinic is open to all levels of athletes, including both seasoned veterans and those who are interested in their first triathlon. And if you don't have a tri-bike, this clinic will include tips for any type of bike.
