Come witness Houston's fastest event on two wheels on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11. Yup, bring mom down to enjoy the festivities on Allen Parkway between Heiner and Taft. Watch racers of all levels participate in the 9th Annual Houston Grand Crit with races all day beginning at 8 am. This is a family-friendly event that even features kids' races throughout the day. This spring, the City of Houston will pilot Sunday Streets HTX. A portion of a great Houston street will be closed to vehicles from 11am-3pm on the first Sunday of each month, beginning this Sunday on White Oak. With no cars on the road you'll be able to enjoy the street for walking, running, dancing, riding with friends and family. Help spread the word!  To learn more click here.

Butterfly Program of Houston Hospice is recognized as a national leader for the advancement of pediatric hospice care. On Saturday, April 26 Bike Barn will commit to donating five percent of gross sales to eight Houston-area conservation groups in effort to keep this city beautiful! Benefiting groups include:  Air Alliance Houston, Bayou Land Conservancy, Bayou Preservation Association, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Galveston Bay Foundation, Houston Audubon, Katy Prairie Conservancy, and Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund. Join us on Thursday, May 1 for First Thursday presented by Midmain, in support of BikeHouston. This block party located at the 3400-3700 blocks of Main Street will host an evening of music, food, drinks and shopping. Proceeds this month benefit BikeHouston and support local cycling advocacy.

Join us at the Union Chappel Vineyards/Bar O Ranch on Saturday, May 3rd when Fulshear will hold its 6th annual Michael T. McCann Memorial Bike Ride. This BP MS 150 Recommended Ride will feature a 68, 35 and 19 mile route, beginning at 7:30am. All proceeds of this family event will directly benefit the Fulshear community. If riding from Houston to Austin just isn't enough for you, check out the Tour du Rouge. The Tour du Rouge is a six day 550 mile ride from Houston to New Orleans being held May 4th to May 9th.  It is a wonderfully supported ride that benefits the Red Cross. The support is so good, it is more of a cycling vacation than a ride. Get details here

The City of Houston and BikeHouston have joined together to launch Goal Zero Fatalities. This initiative will focus on reducing the number of fatalities in Houston associated with cycling.
