CCAP Employee Receives National ROMA Certification
Cumberland Community Action Program (CCAP) was asked to submit an applicant to be part of the Community Action Agency (CAA) process to become a Nationally Certified ROMA Trainer (NCRT) to support the implementation of Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA). ROMA training is a national way to quantifiably measure success across all CAAs.

 CCCS Tax Site Returns Up 13%
Each year between January and April, hundreds of individuals come to CCCS of Fayetteville for assistance filing their tax returns. As of mid-March, CCCS had filed 485 federal returns electronically, an increase of 13.6% over last year. This number does not include state and paper returns.  SHFB Now Picking Up Food From Commissary
After close to five years of building a relationship, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina is now picking up grocery products from the Fort Bragg Commissaries. Collection began on March 11, 2014 and SHFB staff picks up from both North and South Commissaries on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 Seven SHFB Agencies Awarded Community Development Grant
During December 2013, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina released a competitive request for proposals to its member agencies to obtain refrigeration equipment. The community development grant program offered up to 12 agencies to obtain at no cost to them a refrigeration cooler designed to assist in the storage of fresh products prior to distribution.

 Break the Chain
Head Start participated in this year's Break the Chain event. Break the Chain is the Child Advocacy Center's kickoff event for April being Child Abuse Prevention Month and is held at the Crown Center.

 ASPIRE participants now receiving weekly job lead emails
In an effort to continually improve service to our clients, with the ultimate goal of securing employment and becoming self-sufficient, the ASPIRE case management team has collaborated with the CCAP Advancement office to provide weekly emails with qualified, vetted job leads.
