Declaring the "Good News" of Jesus Christ
This week marks the 8th week since we arrived in Brazil  on October 2nd.
We hope you will enjoy this and the many news letters to follow.  We want to be personally in touch with you and keep you up-to-date with the latest things that are happening in the field.

SPECIAL NOTE:  We are having a special fund raising push to raise support and to get as many people involved as possible.  We need partners and are thankful for you and all of your prayers.
THANKSGIVING in BRAZIL
It was a normal working Thursday on Thanksgiving Day here in Brazil, but we celebrated as if we were in the states.  We had 21 people over for the traditional American Thanksgiving Meal.   We continued our family tradition of each one at the table sharing something they are thankful for.
BrazilThanksgiving  REPORT

We came to Brazil not knowing what to expect, but with a clear burden and mandate to preach the "Good News" Gospel to win souls for Christ.  Many have stood by us and have partnered in prayer and finances to be a part. We have been utterly AMAZED at how the LORD has worked and at the amazing people who have come along side us.

When I read this Scripture, I think it accurately represents YOU.

"For from you the Word of the LORD has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place."    1 Thessalonians 1:8

Hospital Ministry
We were invited to go to two of the local Hospitals in Rio Claro and pray for patients. At UniMed hospital they had open arms toward us and were so open to prayer that we were able to pray for a whole floor of patients. The local Nazarene church: Gloria Tabernacle sends a team there every Friday to pray. We witnessed the LORD touch and bless many lives. Here are a few of the testimonies from that visit:

1.  Miracle in Room 6: This woman had been hospitalized for two days with ab intense migraine.  She said she suffers continually with this issue and at this point it was unbearable. When we were at her bedside she still had the migraine even while on medication. We prayed in Jesus' name and you know what?  The headache instantly left. She immediately said, "I want to go home now!" Praise God! We asked her if she knew how the headache left and she did not know. We shared with her the simple message of the gospel and the message of salvation. She wanted to pray and receive this Jesus who healed her into her heart. Thank you Jesus for another soul for eternal life! What a beautiful moment.  I asked her were she was from and she said, Ipenuna.  Hmmm... I thought.  May the testimony of God's healing and saving power spread in Ipeuna!

2.  Paralyzed man:  We prayed with a man who was completely paralyzed due to a head injury at work. We prayed, shared the Testimony of God's love for him, and the message of the cross.  About a week later, word was given to us that the wife wanted us to come back. Here is the way it happened. We originally had thought that the woman in the room with this man was the wife, but she was not. Turns out she is a "self proclaimed healer" and is working with the family. So the healer tells the wife that we came to pray and we spoke and prayed over him like no one else.   Apparently they have had gurus, priests, and what not from any religion they could find to come and pray. But the healer told the wife we were different and that we prayed and spoke the name of Jesus. That life and hope was present in the room as we spoke in the name Jesus. So, now the wife wants to meet us and hear more about Jesus... We will keep you posted on this developing testimony.

3.  Kidney Stones:  This young woman in her early twenties was admitted for kidney stones. She was scheduled to have surgery later that day to remove them. We prayed and all of her pain left. She felt her abdomen and said, "I can't feel anything anymore, they are gone!" Her faced showed the amazement she had as she continued to press down and feel for pain. Praise God!  We shared the gospel with her. She said she was catholic, but that she had never prayed to receive Jesus.  She prayed and asked the Lord to come into her heart as Lord and Savior. Thank you Jesus for another soul!
Santa Casa Hospital
Rachel, a nurse, called us to come and pray at the Santa Casa Hospital.  She has been a nurse at this hospital for 30 years and is retiring in January. Outside of her influence, it would not have been easy to get into this hospital.  We have been told they do not like people coming to pray. Originally Rachel brought us in to pray for one boy who is 5 years old and has been there since the day he was born. Rachel said, "This hospital is my mission field and I have seen God do so many miracles in my years here."  She recounted to us about one old woman who refused to hear the Gospel. This woman died and Rachel said that she (Rachel) cried out to God, "NOT ON MY WATCH".  The woman miraculously came back to life!  Suddenly, she was now willing to hear and Rachel shared the Gospel message of salvation and this old woman received Jesus!  Later that afternoon the old woman died again.

After we prayed for the boy we got to pray pray 7 others in the hospital.  God opened this door and here are a few of the testimonies.

1.  Set Free:  We prayed for a woman in the maternity ward who was admitted for high blood pressure, hypertension, and she described severe tightness in her chest.  We prayed and all of her symtoms left. She was amazed as this has been an ongoing battle for her. We shared the gospel and she prayed to receive Jesus Christ. Amen!

2.  Healed and Restored:  As we were sharing the gospel to the woman with high blood pressure and hypertension, the woman in the next bed over was listening and had tears in her eyes.  She was admitted  for low blood plateletes (14) and was at risk of hemorrhaging, with still two months to go before her due date.  We prayed for her and the presence of God touched her.  She said she had only felt like this one previous time in her life. She said she had gotten off track and away from the Lord long ago. We shared the "Good News" and that God's arms are always open no matter how far she may have strayed. She prayed and recommitted her life to Christ.  It was absolutely beautiful. A few days later, it was reported to us that she was discharged as all her platelet counts were normal.
CHRISTMAS DINNER
We had the wonderful priviledge to be part of a Christmas Dinner for the poor and homeless. Gloria Tabernacle Nazarene Church runs a program that feeds 1,200 hot meals daily. They also provide showers, clean clothes, and other services to help those in need.  We were invited to participate and mingle with those who came.  We were honored to have this opportunity.

Meet Carla and Hercilio (pictured above).  We sat accross the dinner table from Carla and Hercilio, and out of nowhere, Carla began to cry.  She said," I feel so much peace right now. I can't explain it. I had even forgotten what a nice meal tastes like. This is so beautiful, the choir and food. All of this for me?"  Carla's testimony is that about 4 years ago she was admitted to the hospital with 4 liters of water being taken out of her lungs as she was overdosing on crack.  She said it must have only been God who saved her life. She is a single mom with a thirteen year old daughter.  It was a wonderful privilege to share God's love with her and the Gospel message of Salvation. Together we prayed in the dining room and she received Jesus Christ as her savior. Her tears told the story as she verbalized, "I never want to go back to that way ever again."  Hercilio is her friend and he brought her to the special Christmas Dinner event.  Hercilio said he was already a Christian, but prayed to recommit his life and desires to Christ. He said his prayer is to have a house.

PRAYER FOCUS

"GOOD NEWS" IPEUNA
Miracle Gospel Crusade

As we are now looking into the next months ahead our focus is to reach a whole city for Jesus Christ.  This city is Ipenua, Brazil.  This city has about 6 churches representing only a fraction of the population.  It is a bedroom community of about 5,000 people to the larger city of Rio Claro (200,000).  We are in the networking stages of meeting the pastors and developing unity for a CITY WIDE CRUSADE.
Please pray with us...

Prayer Points:
1.  Unity among the churches to work together.
2.  Favor with the city to conduct open public meetings and
the securing of the venue and date.
3. Building of the associated ministry teams:
(worship, prayer, counselors, ushers, etc.)
4.  Financial support among local business and churches to assist
in the undertaking of the crusade costs.
5.  Intercession for the city at large: to break down spiritual strongholds
and for the HARVEST of SOULS.

Why Ipeuna:  The results of this crusade will help us develop report and testimony as we work to bring the community of faith in Rio Claro to work together for a larger crusade in Rio Claro itself.  Not only are the people of Ipeuna important to God, but this is a "key" community. As Bethlehem was  a "key" community, and later Nazareth for the Ministry of Jesus, so Ipenua may be the "Bethlehem Key" to Rio Claro, by bringing a GREAT AWAKENING to the entire region.

Testimony Spotlight
Meet Lurdes...
Delivered from Witchcraft:
We met Lurdes at the Maxi Supermarket.  Right as we began to speak with her,  she shared her story.  Forty years ago she was involved in the occult and witchcraft. She described the darkness of her life and the pain and utter emptiness that engulfed her. She tried to commit suicide by pouring gasoline on her head and lighting it aflame. She did not die and soon after came to know Jesus Christ as her personal savior.  She said, "I have lived in abundant peace ever since. God saved me that day and I will never be the same." We noticed that she had a leg that was stiff and would not bend.  She said she has had severe pain and has not been able to bend this leg for many years.  We asked her if we could pray for her,  as we stood in the checkout line we prayed and declared the healing power of Jesus to do a miracle for her.  GUESS WHAT?  She bent her leg and the pain was gone!
She gave us such nice hugs and invited us to her office where she works so she can introduce us to her coworkers.  You have to just love the friendliness of Brazilians!
Congratulations!
Luciano and his wife Mara have received us with such warm love and hospitality here in Brazil. We had a wonderful time at their wedding. God has been using this couple in our lives on so many levels.  Luciano is a local realtor and is a real networker to say the least. He and his wife are both excited about helping us to facilitate crusades and win the lost for Jesus.  Would you pray for this awesome couple?

A Personal Note...

Dear Friends,

I can't believe we've been here for over two months already! What an experience it has been!
I could say that this place is finally starting to feel more like home now. Mike and I continue to meet amazing people and the girls have formed wonderful friendships with some of the youth here. Good friends make all the difference and we are so thankful for the people that God has been placing in our lives!
Hosting Thanksgiving was another great experience. I had no idea how I was going to be able to bake all the food and the two turkeys in our itty bitty oven, but somehow it all came together, and if I may say so, it was pretty yummy too! It was awesome to have people at our home, around the table sampling some traditional Thanksgiving dishes (the bread pudding was a hit!), and sharing about what God had done over the past year in everyone's life.
We've also had many interesting moments here... the "millions" of bug encounters, the driving (pray for us!), the coping with the heat (no AC at home), the hilarious language mistakes (Mike asked someone for "rain" instead of "keys" the other day), adjusting to homeschooling, ... are just a few of the things that we deal with on a daily basis. Through it all God has been so good and gracious to us!
We are getting used to our life here, even though we miss our family and friends so much! Thank God for FaceTime, social media, Skype and all! We take full advantage of all of these things to keep in touch and stay connected to everyone. The time difference makes it a little more difficult now (we are 4 hrs ahead of US Central Time), but we still manage. Please feel free to contact us if you ever need to! We LOVE to hear from all of you!
It really doesn't seem like Christmas time to us without the cold, the snow and all the pumpkin deliciousness around, but we are looking forward to celebrating it here. We just might go to the beach for a couple of days (it's ok to be jealous )...
We wish all of you an amazing, special Christmas Season and a victorious, prosperous, blessed and Holy Spirit filled 2014!
Love, love, love you so much!!!

ROPE HOLDERS
Watch and listen to this Poem by Reinhard Bonnke. It shows how "connected" we are and that the Gospel cannot go forth unless we work together.

Churrasco
(Brazilian Bar-b-que)

Brazilians love to gather around the Churrasco.  Any occasion is a good reason to have Churrasco.  The Girls hosted a group of about 20 youth at the house for churrasco and an afternoon of fun.   It was a blessing to be able to meet some of the youth.  Investing in this generation should be a top priority.  One of the youth came up to us and said, "I would love to help you evangelize and win lost souls for Christ."   God can use that!
Christmas and New Years Blessings
Christmas is around the corner and a new year is ahead of us.  We want to wish you and your family a very, very Merry Christmas. If I could prioritize this day it would be in this order: 1) Recognizing Jesus Christ as the Savior of the World 2) Appreciating and loving our families and 3) Taking the opportunity to be appreciative of ALL the blessings we have, even though it may have been a tough year, in the midst of it you are blessed!  Remember Christmas is not about buying stuff, but about the Giver and Author of LIFE. If you have the burden to shop, then I would encourage you to shop for a needy family and bless them this year. No matter what your 2013 has held for you, it does not define 2014. Seasons pass and new things come! 2014 will be a year of NEW THINGS and surprise BLESSINGS for YOU!
