Meet My Latest Wall of Famer!  Many individuals have a weight issue that can come from an injury or illness.  If you are struggling to reclaim your health, don't miss Ron's story.  A State Trooper (now retired after 27 1/2 years on the force) injured in the line of duty, he fought back from debilitating illnesses and injuries that required 55 surgeries.  All this as he continues to be on medicine that reduces his ability to build muscle and lowers his immune function, which he will need to take for the rest of his life.  Neuropathy and vision issues have severely impacted his balance and more.  This past week he celebrated 10 years of a successful Mayo pancreas transplant (the second longest in Mayo's history) and I can't think of a better time to applaud the efforts of this client. He's my JKFY hero, having also lost 20 pounds and 10 inches -- just since this June!--instead of complaining he's reclaiming everything from physical strength to balance in his body he thought was gone forever.   Need motivation? THIS WEEK'S FEATURE!  - Improve Mentally and Physically with ETP for Pain Management and Stress -- Enhance Even More with JKFY Yoga!
Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health concerns in our society.  Physical pain is a significant precursor to both.  A variety of non-medication techniques can offer great relief, ranging from yoga to meditation.  Another I employ with clients is EFT. This can benefit you in the relief of pain, whether emotional or physical.  

What is EFT ? 
This is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. - and voice positive affirmations.  I will be teaching this technique as part of my spiritual practice while we focus on releasing tension in our hips and backs as the physical practice of my classes.    (See the yoga section of this edition for details!)  How can you do EFT on your own at home?   Click Here to Finish Article
