Here's a thumbs up approach to helping reduce osteopenia and osteoporosis.  In this day and age with all the information out there about how women need to protect their bones and avoid osteopenina and osteoporosis, I am still surprised at how few women regularly lift weights.  As a Certified Senior Strength Trainer (a special certification for physical therapy that qualifies me for those 50 and over), I frequently see people after they have let this go too long and get that unfortunate diagnosis from their doctor.  The good news is that most of my client's find that they "grow an inch" by their next physical after working with me.  Here's help to keep those bones strong! See my Blog this week's and the main article below!

This relaxing flow class combines the benefits of a flow class and ends with restorative Yin and meditation for stress relief and positive visualizations. THIS WEEK'S FEATURE!  - No Bones About It - Women You Need to Lift a Minumum of Twice A Week! 
Exercise and diet can have a profound impact on our life.  But one of the important risk factors  is peak bone mass--the highest amount of bone mass a woman can achieve in her lifetime.  To maintain consistent bone formation (otherwise known as remodeling) women must remain active enough to ensure adequate stress is being placed on their bodies--but this is also important for young adults and even teens.  But if you are not lifting weights at least twice a week, you are in serious danger of developing osteopenia and ultimately osteoporosis as you age. Why?

Many people are concerned with what their outer appearance is but you should be even more concerned with what is happening beyond what you can't see such as this degeneration that occurs from poor posture and loss of bone mass. Lifting weights is key and lifting with good form is essential.
