Highland Happenings
Scottish highland clans getting it together
Just a few weeks ago, a new group was formed and officially launched in the Scottish highlands. It is called the Association of Highland Clans & Societies, based in Inverness, and promising to do great things for the highland clan culture in the Highlands and Islands.
To begin, there are some very exciting plans on the table for events in 2014 - but not in the summer at Bannockburn. Rather, it will be the Highland Meeting and Highland Homecoming in Autumn of 2014. These are some of the events that the Scottish Homecoming 2014 team has been touting as reasons to come to Scotland in 2014. They have a good point. Read more here.

Bannockburn 2014
Some nuts and bolts details
It can be a bit difficult to get all the gritty details you need if you are planning to haul a clan association, banners, targes, flags, crests, maps, awards and such across the Atlantic ocean to set up a clan tent in Scotland - or if you are just hauling yourself, your husband and three excited kilted kids for a trip of a lifetime. Thanks to the good services of the Inverness based Association of Highland Clans & Societies we are now getting a few of the practical details of the Bannockburn 2014 experience that might be important from a participating clan perspective. Click here to find out more.

That's all we have for you this time around. Be sure and head over to COSCA.net to check out the new site. You might be surprised at what's there and by golly all the links work! If you find something that doesn't work please tell us. Check back often as we grow and expand the website to reflect all of the great things COSCA is doing. Also, if you aren't already a 2013 COSCA member as an individual or an organization, please consider joining. Dues are painfully low right now and they won't be that way forever. Thanks as always for all of your support.
Yours aye,
Susan L. McIntosh

Council Of Scottish Clans & Associations
COSCA was founded in 1976 by Dr. Herbert MacNeil and others for the purpose of bringing Scottish clan societies together. The initial meeting was held at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in Linville, NC and the organization continues to honor this tradition by gathering on the mountain annually. Today COSCA welcomes all kinds of Scottish American organizations as well as interested individuals.
COSCA's primary purpose is to preserve and promote the customs, traditions, and heritage of the Scottish people. We currently serve as a clearing house for Scottish American activities throughout the US. Through our many member clans and organizations, COSCA represents thousands of American Scots across the nation in furtherance of our mission. COSCA is also an active participant in The Scottish Coalition USA, a collective of several organizations united to serve the Scottish-American community through research, long-term planning, and promotion of Scottish heritage.
