BOTH HYACKS TEAMS IN THE SEMIS
For the first time in the history of the NWSS football program, both the Varsity and JV teams will be playing in the AAA Provincial semi finals! The Varsity squad turned in a strong effort in a 27-13 win over STM. The Hyacks dominated this contest, leading 27-0 early in the 4th quarter, while holding their opponents to just 4 first downs to that point. The defense forced 6 turnovers, led by Kevin Osea's 2 interceptions. Jeff Lugtu added an interception to his 8 tackles.

Offensively, the Hyacks again went over the 300 yard rushing mark, with David Penalver leading the way  with 124 yards and a TD. Trew Dancey scored 2 TDs and Gurvir Ghuman added 1 TD, along with 6 tackles (2 for loss) and a sack. A complete recap of Friday's game can be found here.

CHEER TEAM NEEDS YOUR HELP!

From Nicole Pasacreta - Head coach NWSS Cheer,

The BC Cheerleading Association, for the first time in history has been given one partially paid high school bid to the ICU High School World Championships in Florida this coming February. The bid includes all accommodations upon arrival. Best news of all, the bid has been given to us!!!

Because of the short time frame we have to pull it together, we are reaching out to our biggest supporters in hopes that you can help us find a way to get there.

We immediately began fundraising after learning about this just in the last few days.  But I fear we will come up short. Many of our families are low income, and cannot afford to send their children on a trip.

To that end, we are asking if you, or any possible connection, could provide financial support to assist us in this amazing opportunity.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 to cover our flights (for 20 participants).  I believe we can raise $5000 ourselves.  So that leaves $7000.

NWSS Cheer is very unique and very well respected already in its 3rd year.  Our captains become coaches.  We have created two high school teams to allow both entry level and advanced training.  We have also launched a sister program for children - where our high school athletes gain leadership skills and work experience as they coach  (Royal City Cheer & Tumbling Society).

Any help toward this goal is appreciated from the depths of our hearts.  Please contact me at your earliest convenience below.

Sincerely,

Nicole Pasacreta
