HYACKS RETURN HOME THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

For the first time since Homecoming, the varsity Hyacks will play a night game at Mercer Stadium, when they take on Notre Dame this Friday at 7:30pm.

The Hyacks are coming off a close 28-21 loss to Mt Douglas, the #1 ranked team in BC, in what was a back and forth game until the final whistle. Making his first start at QB, Nick Hauka threw a pair of TDs for the Hyacks, including a spectacular 1-handed catch by Justin Swartz in the first quarter. Michael Thind scored on 70 yard pass in the 2nd quarter. Gurvir Ghuman scored the Hyacks other major on a 12 yard run.

Defensively Connor Pattison registered 5 tackles and a sack, while Jeff Lugtu and Ben Tjernagel added 5 tackles apiece. More info on the game can be found here.

The Hyacks next opponent, Notre Dame, is coming off a close 8-7 loss to defending provincial champion South Delta last Saturday. New West defeated Notre Dame 27-7 a year ago. With a win on Friday, the Hyacks would clinch a home playoff game.

JVs LOOK FOR 2nd STRAIGHT DIVISION TITLE

The JVs won a thrilling 48-47 game on Friday at Mt Douglas, thanks to a 5 TD performance by Sammy Sidhu. He scored on runs of 60, 55, 3, 65 yards respectively, and added a 25 yard interception return for a TD. TE Evan Nolli caught an 18 yard TD pass from Kinsale Philip, and Robertson Yagyog's 52 yard TD run rounded out the scoring. Yanni Angelopoulos, Isaiah James and Finn Stark had strong games on defense. A complete report on this game can be found here

The Hyack JVs are now 6-0 this season (3-0 in league play) and have not lost a regular season game to a BC opponent in the past 2 years, going 16-0 during that stretch. They will host Notre Dame this Thursday at 5 pm at Mercer Stadium. With a win, the Hyacks would win their second straight AAA Western Division title and a first round bye in the playoffs.

YOUTH FOOTBALL UPDATE

ATOM
The Atom Hyacks came up short against the Cloverdale Lions this week. Leading the way on defense with a number of strong tackles were Lucas Ramsay and Aiden Kelsie. The offense recorded its first pass completion of the year from Markus Savela to Andrew van den Driessen and saw some good rushing attempts from Jagger Saran.

TYKE FLAG

Grey - A 14-0 win over South Delta, thanks to a TD and plenty of flags from Elijah O'Neale. Matthew Cabeca had a long run and a few flags, while Lukas Lalji scored the other TD.

Silver - Hyacks Silver won 12-6 in a tight defensive battle against the Langley Bandits, as Riley Foreman recorded his first TD of the season on an exciting 12yard run. Dylan Panitpakdi was outstanding on defense with a crucial interception while contributing on offense with the go ahead TD.
