HYACKS WIN BIG OVER BELMONT

It was a series of big plays that propelled the Hyacks to a 42-7 win over Belmont on Friday night, in their first conference game of the season. Jamie Shiho found Michael Thind for an 80 yard TD pass that opened the scoring for the Hyacks. On the following series Jordan Guzman took off on a 76 yard run, then Trew Dancey made it 21-7 before the end of the first quarter with a 20 yard run. David Penalver made it 28-7 at halftime with a 56 yard run, while Justin Swartz caught a pair of TD passes in the 3rd quarter to round out the scoring. Swartz also added an interception on defense and was named the player of the game, while Dillon Cusker was the lineman of the game. The win improved the Hyacks record to 3-1 vs BC competition (1-0 in league play) as they hold the #5 spot in the provincial rankings. For a complete recap of Friday's game, check out the Record.

 
Next up for the Hyacks, the team will travel to Vancouver College to face the 3rd ranked Irish on Saturday, Oct 17th at 1:30 pm. Tickets will cost $5 at the gate.

JVs CONTINUE WINNING WAYS

The JVs set the tone for the day on Friday with a 35-6 win over Belmont, improving their record to 4-0 vs BC competition. Broxx Comia opened the scoring on a 57 yard run. After the Bulldogs tied the game, Shane Belsher returned the kickoff 80 yards for a major. QB Kinsale Philip then found TE Evan Noli in the corner of the endzone to give the Hyacks a 21-6 halftime lead. In the 2nd half, Robertson Yagyog went almost the length of the field on a 95 yard TD run. Garrett Gogal rounded out the scoring by recovering a fumble in the endzone, as he becomes the 2nd Hyack JV lineman to score a TD this season. Finn Stark meanwhile, had a strong game on defense.
 
The JVs will also travel to Vancouver College, on Thursday, in a key Western Conference matchup for both teams.

YOUTH FOOTBALL UPDATE

JR BANTAM
The JB's turned in an impressive come from behind win, 48-20 in Victoria. The Hyacks trailed 20-16 at halftime, before pulling together in the second half and outscoring the Renegades 32-0. Kyle Huish scored 3 times, Vishaan Narayan rushed for 2 more TDs and Greyson Planinsic added one TD to his numbers. Max King, Nathan Hull and James Duffy were very good on down field blocks on sweeps as receivers.
 
ATOM
The Atom Hyacks defeated South Delta 24-16. Issac Shirshac stood out on defence with an interception and later forced a fumble which he recovered himself. Andrew Van Den Driessen ran a reverse on two separate occasions for 50+ yards both times and scored a touchdown. Markus Savela and Greg Palmer both had solid rushing performances and each scored a touchdown. Alex Goldsberry stepped up and played a solid role on the offensive line and recorded key tackles playing on the defensive line.

TYKE FLAG
It was all Hyacks, all the time, on Friday night at Mercer stadium, as the tyke teams wrapped up the evening with our own in-house flag games. All of the players were introduced and came running through the tunnel to music with some rather interesting nicknames. Thanks to Mary Feldhaus, Tandrea Jang and all of the coaches and volunteers for putting on a memorable event for the kids
 
Winners for the RCHFC youth raffle were also announced on Friday night:
1st Place          Abigail Bhatacharya ($1500)
2nd Place         Robert Cottam
3rd place          Karina Toftrup
 
Special thanks to all of the volunteers who organized the raffle and those who sold tickets - a very successful fundraiser!
 
On Sunday the flag teams were back at it in their VMFL league games:
 
Silver - An impressive 26-0 win over the N.Surrey Firebirds, despite only playing with 6 players! Beckett Murray had some big runs on offense while Benjamin Porter completed a pair of passes for conversions, and also made some key plays at receiver.
 
White - Big 16-0 win for Team White over the previously undefeated North Surrey Ravens. Big shout out to Alex Morosoff who had a nice run and a big flag on D.
 
Orange - A 19-6 win over North Delta Gold. Great offense and defense played by all - Alex, Jacob, Justin, Luca, Makalo and Noah.
 
Grey - Quintin Pleasents was big on defense with an interception. Solid throws from Kai Jang-Read and great catches by JJ Charles-Davis.


MINI TYKE
White defeated black for their 4th win of the season, thanks to great defensive efforts from Thomas Frass and Ryder Dillon. QB Christhony Dela Cruz scored on a pair of 50 yard plays, one of which was a completion to Niko VelthuijsenJayden Dhinjal played solid defensively and also rushed for a TD.
The Mini Tykes will wrap up their season after the games this Sunday.
