 LEAGUE OPENER THIS FRIDAY

Following a rare bye week, the varsity Hyacks will play their first AAA Western Conference game on Friday, as they take on Belmont Secondary at Mercer Stadium. The Hyacks come into this game ranked 5th in the Provincial rankings, with a 2-1 non-conference record against BC competition.

The team will be looking for big performances from the likes Josh Nerona and Trew Dancey who will get increased roles this week. Sarban Sidhu, Sebastian Ramirez, Declan Baker and Connor Pattison have been very steady along the offensive line all season, and will be asked to handle Belmont's large interior defensive line. The Hyacks have won their only previous two meetings against the Bulldogs, 24-6 last season in Victoria, and 35-13 in 2013 at Mercer Stadium. Please note the early 5 pm kickoff time, to accommodate Belmont's travel back to Victoria.

JVs LOOK TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

The JVs will also host Belmont earlier in the day, starting at 2 pm. The Hyack JVs are also coming off a bye week that saw them take part in a joint practice with Terry Fox last Thursday. Evan Pattison and Evan Nolli were among those who stood out in the scrimmages.

The JVs are 3-0 vs BC competition this season and this will also be their first league game. All teachers will be allowed to bring their block D classes to Mercer stadium to attend the game, so expect a big crowd for the first half.

YOUTH FOOTBALL UPDATE

JR BANTAM
The JB's improved to 4-1 with an impressive 68-20 win over the North Delta Longhorns. Stuart Phillips led the scoring with 3 TDs, Jacob Sumner scored his first 2 TDs and Andros Dancey added 2 TDs and 3 interceptions to his numbers. Vashaan Narayan, Josh Baba and Carter Kuefler each scored once. Matthew Drake, Payton Myers and Ishan Aurora showed strong on defense.

PEE WEE
A great pass by Jacob MacCumber deep to Colin van den Driesen resulted in the Hyacks only score, in a loss to North Surrey. It was only the 2nd TD given up by the Cardinals all season. The Hyack pee wees have been playing with a very small roster all season and the coaching staff is proud of their continued efforts.

ATOM
The Atom Hyacks dropped this week's game 20-6 giving the team a 2-2-1 record.  A strong defensive effort was shown by a solid and quick defensive line - notably Agam Rawan, Jack Nyang, and Jovin Manhas.  In the second half, Issac Shirshac electrified the crowd with an atom season record 35 yard kickoff return!  Kudos to the offensive line for a stalwart effort, including first year Hyacks, Kushaal Aujla, Ethan Duffy, Ilja Scow, Jordan Cook and Jasleen Garcha.

TYKE FLAG

The tyke flag teams will play their only Friday night games of the season this week following the varsity game at Mercer Stadium. Parents are asked to arrive no later than 7 pm for warmup. The games could start as early as 7:30. Players will be introduced from the tunnel.

Silver - An impressive 18-14 win over the White Rock Titans, thanks to great defensive efforts from Emilio Locatelli and Riley Foreman. Khalid Dhanani was solid at center for the offense and Benjamin Porter had the play of the game with a touchdown off of an interception to secure the win.
.
Grey - Playing with just 5 players for the entire game, the grey team lost its first game of the season, 32-24 to unbeaten North Delta. Lukas Lalji scored all 4 Hyacks TDs, while Elijah O'Neale and Kai Jang-Read had plenty of flags throughout game.

White - Skylar Singh scored a touchdown and then executed the first passing completion of the season, on a 2 point conversion, in a close loss to Westside.

Black - Matthew Buckoski ran for a touchdown and Benjamin Yu threw some great passes, one of which was a completion to Kurtis Ramsey. Oliver Romero played solid defensively and also rushed for two TDs.

Orange - Luca Luongo came up with a nice interception and Makalo Bhattacharya Matahwa was a flagging machine!

Mini Tyke
White defeated Orange for their 3rd win of the season. QB Christhony Dela Cruz, scored the first TD of the game on a 50 yard run, and added 2 more scores in the second half. Ryder Dillon and Niko Van Velthuijsen flagged opponents several times. Niko also added a TD.
