SEASON OPENS THIS FRIDAY IN BLAINE, WA

After a very successful fall camp and an inspirational "Unity Camp" in Chilliwack, the Hyacks are ready to open their season on Friday night at Blaine High School, just across the border. Players who stood out at camp included receiver Michael Thind, FB/DL Josh Olango and two-way linemen Sunny Rishi and Dillon Cusker. Rishi and Cusker were voted team captains by their teammates, as were linebackers Jeff Lugtu and Marcel Wang, both featured in this week's Record

The varsity team takes on the Blaine Borderites at 7pm. The two teams annually meet every spring as a part of a jamboree. This will be the first full varsity game between the two teams since 2012. The varsity Hyacks will play their first home game next Friday, Sept 11th at 7:30 pm vs Centennial at Mercer Stadium.

The JVs meanwhile face the freshman team from Belleview HS, one of the top programs in America. The varsity Wolverines saw their 67 game winning streak snapped in the Washington AAA Championship game last season. They have won 11 state titles since 2001 and were the 2012 Sports Illustrated National Champions. Receiver/DB Shane Belsher, RB/LB Sammy Sidhu and lineman Justice Champagne were among those who stood out during fall camp for the JV Hyacks.

Both games on Friday will take place at Blaine HS: The JVs at 4 pm and the Varsity at 7 pm. Tickets are $6 (for both games), US funds only will be accepted at the gate.

HYACK FAMILY DAY ON MONDAY AT MERCER

The Royal City Hyacks youth football program begins its season at home on Labor Day Monday, as all flag and tackle teams will play at home on the same day for the only time this season. It has been a very productive August for the Hyacks who had plenty of success in pre-season tournament play. The Atom team won the Bronze Boot at the North Delta tournament last weekend. Aiden Kelsie managed a pair of TDs and an interception in the tournament. The Jr Bantams turned in another solid performance in a pre-season scrimmage against Ridge Meadows.
Game start at 10 am with the tyke flag teams.

While registration has now filled up for most of the teams, our pee wee team is still looking for more players. If you know of anyone aged 10-11 (2004-2005) that is still interested in joining, please have them register online here:
