VARSITY HYACKS TO HOST PLAYOFF GAME ON NOV 14

For the 2nd straight year, the Hyacks will host a playoff game, as Mt Boucherie Secondary from Kelowna will visit Mercer Stadium for a wildcard playoff game on Friday, Nov 14th at 7:30 pm. The Hyacks wrapped up the 2014 regular season campaign with a 6-3 record (4-3 in conference play) following a 37-15 loss to South Delta.

Julian Ramirez scored a 6 yard TD in the 2nd quarter, to tie the game at 7. That score was set up by a 38 yard run from Kale Brock. Early in the 4th quarter, Mackenzie Ratcliffe found Dylan Musgrove for a 45 yard TD pass. A complete recap of Friday's game can be found here.

JVs WIN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FINISH UNBEATEN

The JVs became the first team in the history of Hyacks Football to finish a regular season undefeated and claim an outright conference title, following their 49-20 win over Lord Tweedsmuir on Thursday at Mercer Stadium.

Josh Olango and Trew Dancey scored to give the Hyacks a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Dancey added another TD in the 2nd quarter and finished with over 200 yards on the ground. Lucas Sabau and Sammy Sidhu put the home team up 35-6 at halftime, before Alan Darby and David Arciaga rounded out the scoring for the Hyacks in the 4th quarter. A complete recap of Thursday's game can be found here.
JVs finish the regular season with a 9-0 record against BC teams (8-0 in league play), and enter the provincial playoffs as the 3rd seed, earning a first round bye. They will play the winner of the Mt Boucherie/Centennial wildcard game. The Hyacks quarter final playoff game will be held on Thurs, Nov 20th at Mercer Stadium at 5:30 pm. This Thursday, Nov 6th the Hyacks have added an extra exhibition game, and will face 2nd seeded Notre Dame at 5:30 pm at Mercer, in a game that will see the starters play the first half and the rest of the team play in the 2nd half.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

Pee Wee:

Despite a depleted lineup, the Pee Wees came from behind to defeat Cloverdale 12-7 on Sunday at Mercer. Nikolas Dukic was player of the game with several tackles, an interception and 2 TD runs. The Hyacks made yet another harrowing goal-line stand with Darius Louis-Charles penetrating the middle and stopping the Bobcats for repeated red-zone losses. Graham Armstrong contributed strongly on both sides of the ball and Ben Nichiporik stepped up and played well, filling in at center.

Atom:

The Atoms fell 30-14 in White Rock, in what was a very hard-fought game right to the end. In the 4th quarter trailing by just a TD, the Hyacks stalled on two long drives deep in White Rock territory. Jovan Manhas had another great game at center, while Phillip Smith stood out on D-Line and KOR. Callum Rogers & A.J. Caspillo once again opened up holes on offence and were also a force on defense. It's now playoff time and the team effort displayed shows the Atoms will be a handful against any team!

FLAG:

Team Orange defeated Langley 12-6. Nathan Hillman scored the Hyacks first TD, while Marcus Kelsie caught a pass from Lucas Lalji for the 2nd TD. James Canil and Ethan Duffy each had long runs, while Jeevyn Rattan had plenty of flags on defense.

Team Black finished off their season with a hard fought 20-8 defeat to the Richmond Raiders. The Hyacks played much improved defense, with excellent flagging by EJ Hansraj and Tray Belanger. The team closed out the game with a spectacular double reverse with Evan Charlish running 50 yards for a touchdown. Willy Rerup capped off the drive with a 15 yard scamper for the two point conversion.

Team White lost to a very good Coquitlam squad.
